| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Oh please. Obama looked at the response to his candidacy, determined what everyone was hammering him for, then he picked the person who best filled in or addressed those gaps. McCain has done the same thing. Time will tell who chose best, or if it even matters, but to somehow imply Obama made some sort of selfless pick based on qualifications or the good of the country as opposed to boosting his own candidacy is ridiculous at best.

Capable of being VP. She's already more than qualified for a night with the BUCKYLE.

Unless this is an attempt to reestablish his cred as a maverick, this picks seems to reflect more on who doesn't want to be on the ticket w/ McCain, than who he thinks rounds out his ticket. It would have been interestng to see if Romney would have brought about an anti-Mormon vote... and that may be the real reason he didn't get the call... or if Romney is lookng at 2012. I sure don't see McCain as anything but a 1 shot candidate, win or lose and Palin would have to come a long way to be ready to run for POTUS. Sure will do much to bring the Stephens trial in to sharper focus. |

Not at all. I just find it an absurd pick. Surely there are more qualified women in the Republican party. Kay Bailey Hutchison? Libby Dole?

Good choice or bad choice, either way, come November, we'll have either elected a black man as president or a female as vice-president. Which historic moment will the country choose?

Romney wasn't ever going to get it because you don't need to "get" the far right, you need to "get" the center. (And make a splash). You don't need to mollify the religious right (even if the guy is mormon) they arent' voting for Obama... EVER. Self destruction, cinci? The RNC is in control of the show now... and they are running the play book. They aren't 7-3 in Presidential elections with the smaller party since '68 because they are morons. |

There are a zillion 'more qualified democrats' than Obama... just no one gives a [censored] about them. |

I could understand the Palin pick more if she had some national following or great economic experience (Whitman or Fiorina). But with this pick, McCain seems to be moving away from his strongest argument: experience. |

If I were the Democratic Party, I would tell Chuck Schumer to keep his pie hole shut. He said that he could not wait for the VP debate in Missouri by saying that Biden better really knock some socks off. He should remember that Palin defeated a man in the run for the governorship of Alaska. I know this is a much bigger stage but I believe she will hold their own against old Joe and I wonder how Hillary really does feel.
