Ak. In posting to Scoot about my offensive post (since more than one person was offended, that is a fair adjective), I was attempting to explain my reason for posting it. I see Palin as coming from the same cookie cutter mold as most of the politicians in Louisiana who are right wing Republicans. Further explaining, the elephants in my state tend to be righter than elephants in other states. The David Dukes, Woody Jenkins, Susie Terrell's of our local climate appear to me as less moderate, more intolerant - as a whole - than republican candidates in other states (in my opinion of course).
I am very prejudiced and offended by the last decade of politics. I mean, it is only my opinion, and ultimately not any more valuable than yours or anybody else's, but I am personally extremely offended by the right wanting to change the Constitution (flag burning, gay marriage) and dictate what adults do in the bedroom. I am offended by Republicans who trumpet their Christianity like a sword, and tell me in both veiled and open ways that they are right, I am wrong, and not because of my political views, but because they are CHRISTIAN views and therefore I must not be moral unless I step in line.
I am sick to death of seeing the Republican candidates trying to merge attacking Iraq with our "side" - God - favoring the fight. When I read that Palin ran for Mayor with a slogan "Put a Christian in the Mayor's Office", and it was a guy named Stein she ran against I heard about all I need to know about her, as I have seen her ilk (OK, I threw that in) before. The recent interviews solidified my opinion that she is a hack phony. I know you disagree.
AK, my post was trying to explain why I had a visceral reaction to seeing a person who I think is a phony and an unethical hypocrite of a person acting in a certain way. My assumption about the baby may well be wrong. Is it possible that they wanted the family together in this moment of triumph? Sure. Am I sure that she was using her kid and his condition to try to create an emotional and sympathetic response from the child being there post debate on TV? No. That is my assumption based upon my low opinion of her and my belief that she is an insincere idiot much like the current insincere idiot President, who is also big on family and fidelity to his wife, but not so much on truth or ethics.
That view is simply my bias. We all are biased. You are biased. Everybody is biased, as we all see, hear and learn about things, and process them in a manner that, according to experts, reinforces our views based upon prior experiences and beliefs.
I was not trying to post an organized debate about her, I was explaining why I made a post some found offensive and what my thoughts about it were.

Read the above.

Obviously both posts are longer than that... but... you know... the links are there. (Oh, and... yeah... 5 planes... not splashed.)

I said, cleaning up the typo (
I make no comment on veracity. But interesting if true. ) It is absolutely true he did not "splash" five planes. You are going to have to explain the relevance to me of this thread.

Yeah, lets talk about anger... good idea, what other possible "motive" could there have been?

Again, see above

Which, that you stumbled over a cheap shot?
Hate conservatives/republicans/religious wackos all you want, but, I guess I don't understand why you're trying to pass it off as anything other than a smear campaign.

Because there are lots of Right wing Christian Republicans who would ban all sorts of books if given a chance. I could give a [censored] if she actually banned any (well...not true, I'd go bat [censored]

), but the fact that she asked the librarian the hypothetical question several times terrifies me enough. I think her wanting to pass laws that says my niece has to carry to term a baby due to her being raped by an HIV positive felon is also terrifying. She advocates no exceptions to abortion for rape or incest. That is another issue where I do not need to hear another fact.
And I may be wrong, but what I have learned is that she easily and glibly lies about her record, about her prior opponents, and about her own statements. That does not make her evil or special. That makes her a politician. Her views on other things, however, have led me to a decision that she is one of the dangerous people that I fear most. It is not the mean yelling angry asshole that is to be feared, it is the aw shucks I'm a nice guy or gal type that is the most dangerous. See GW Bush.
Essentially you are questioning my range of assumptions: my world view about the type of politician that I see on the other side of the aisle, as it were. That is too wide a topic.

You are free to see Obama as another one of those lying tax and spend liberals who promise everything and want to wreck the economy by their policies, and who foist liberal views on the public like sex ed and homosexuality. If you did, it would not be a cheap shot to think that anyone coming out of Cook County is a crook...that may not be true, but it is a rational assumption based upon a certain experience. I would not agree with you, but I would not be puzzled by your going there.
The bottom line is, I could have said she was using her kid like a prop by keeping it up till midnight and leaving out the special needs or retarded adjective...
but she specifically mentioned in the debate the kid and her status as a mom of a special needs kid as a reason for me to vote for her. That means that me asking why the special needs kid is up late being passed to her on the loud, camera flash filled stage is - to me - relevant. Smear is saying something that is not so...and you know it...like insinuating that her mentor Mr. Stein was not a Christian (he was not Jewish btw).
Saying she had a motive to use the kid as a prop is only a smear if it is not true and I know it. I don't know it is not true. So feel free to disregard that insinuation. I guess If I was charmed by her instead of being repelled by her I would think your way....but I don't.
