Well to be fair, she is releasing the book on inaugeration day...stands to reason one could be a reasonable person and perceive that she has a much better chance of selling more books if he becomes President. That is a conflict of interest, no matter how impartial she might (giving her the beenfit of the doubt) try and be. It would be equivalent to the next Presidential debate being moderated by someone who is writing a book about the prisoners in McCain's camp in North Vietnam, released the same day. I imagine people wouldn't like that much either.

I saw a picture of Gwen today and recognized her instantly, she is as liberal as one can get. She has been a Democratic party mouthpiece for years.
I have to wonder how partial she will be.

So, is this more or less "worse" than Brokaw serving as a "special liaison" to the McCain campaign?

To be fair Brokaw is not acting as "liaison" for the benefit of McCain but for NBC news...

In recent weeks the McCain camp has "frozen out" NBC and Brokaw was is seen by the McCain camp as more even-handled than Olberman and his ilk......

To be fair, the book Ifill plans to write has a very limited audience. If Obama is elected, she might sell 502 copies instead of 487. Besides, Obama isn't the focus of the book. It is about how his candidacy impacts other blacks running for office.

How in the heck is the number of books she sells even remotely relevant to the conversation? Face it she is a cheerleader for Obama and this would just as bad if Hannity or Limbaugh were the moderator. However, since the book has not been released we don't know if the book is a glowing report for Obama or not.

It used to just the appearance of impropriety was enough to disqualify someone from such a position as moderator as they could potentially alter the outcome. Sadly, not anymore it is almost a prerequisite these days.....

I didn't bring the book sales issue to the table, see Bucklion's post or the Drudge Report. Please find me on instance of Ifill serving as an Obama "cheerleader." The McCain camp had no problems with her as moderator, they signed off on the deal (2 weeks after the topic of book was public knowledge). We certainly don't know if the book is a "glowing" report, especially since it hasn't been written. If anything, this media attention will cause her to overcompensate to looking fair and she will go softer on Palin possibly than she had planned.
