ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) Republican John McCain vowed Sunday to "whip" Democratic rival Barack Obama's "you-know-what" when the two presidential candidates meet Wednesday in their final televised debate.
McCain made that pledge as top advisers said he is weighing new economic proposals to help the nation weather the financial crisis. The Arizona senator refused to answer a reporter's question Sunday about what plans he might be considering.
Addressing several dozen volunteers at his campaign headquarters outside Washington, McCain promised some of his signature "straight talk" about the state of the race. National and many battleground state polls have shown him trailing Obama amid the deepening market crisis.
"We're a couple points down, OK, nationally, but we're right in this game," McCain said to cheers. "The economy has hurt us a little bit in the last week or two, but in the last few days we've seen it come back up because they want experience, they want knowledge and they want vision. We'll give that to America."
McCain said he and running mate Sarah Palin would continue campaigning hard in the three weeks left before Election Day, in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado. The two planned a joint appearance Monday in Virginia, a Republican stronghold turned battleground this time.
"We're going to spend a lot of time and after I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7," McCain said.
The two men will debate Wednesday at Hofstra University on Long Island, N.Y. CBS News anchor Bob Schieffer will moderate the 90-minute forum.
Still, McCain promised to run a "respectful" campaign in the weeks to come.......

Obama just needs to play defense in this one and sit on the lead. As long as he doesn't have any major gaffes he is going to win this election......comfortably. Just sit back and feed McCain the rope as he continues to hang himself politically.

I dunno...everyone is talking about this being ahead in the polls and then voting for McCain cuz Obama is black crap.

Again, I say that will happen to an extent, but not in the states that really matter. If it doesn't happen in Colorado, Obama wins.

i dont either campaign has taken the moral high ground... but i cant say i can remember the last "respectful campaign"




on the debate-i wish i would have dvred the first debate. i could watch it three times and gotten the same thing out of it...

Agreed. Anything short of Obama coming out with a koran and doing nothing but chanting it aloud while bobbing his head above it while giving the cameras a Black Panther salute, and this election is over--by landslide proportions.

What if Bill Ayers came out with a pipe bomb, and then Jeremiah Wright came out on stage with a list of people's addresses...

In all seriousness, this could be an election where the popular vote is close (2-5 points) but the electoral college is a landslide.

Don't be too quick to laugh . What does everyone do IF He turns out to be still connected to extremists, or even worse is turns out to be one. He has had plenty of opportunity to be totally inflenced in that regime and to base his true life style on it.
What do we all do then?

What regime? Please enlighten. Do you really believe that he's a "one man sleeper cel?" Is that the depths to which the conservative movement has sunk? Is that the limit of their ideas and ideals? No wonder Barry Goldwater spent the last two years of his life speaking out against the modern conservative movement.

BTW, one could play the same unsubstantiated, innuendo-based "what if" game about any candidate, even the holy Palin. Oh wait, she actually was connected to a radical, right wing secessionist political party and even sent their convention a warm video greeting while Governor.

I have a lot of reasons for not believing in all the Obamuuuuhhhhh as a combination of Jesus, Martin Luther King and the Easter Bunny, but I find it very hard to believe he's a extremist...at least in the sense you are meaning. An extremist Robin Hood? One could argue. An extremist spender? Little doubt. An extremist anti-American? Don't think so.
