| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

..."Bush is going to war with Iraq or whoever he wants to bomb the [censored] out of, and if he's wiretapping our conversations it's to save the rights of your pussy bitch ass to protest the very things he is doing to protect you, so go crawl in a hole and [censored] yourself you anti-american [censored]wad!"
"Guess what? The tax and spend guys won fair and square, and are taxing and spending. Now, you have to eat the [censored] sandwich - philosophically speaking - for the next four years. Get over it! " Quote:
2) As to the absence of a few curse words, neither the tone nor the subject of my post is a personal attack of such an obvious nature as your example. And if "eat a [censored] sandwich - philosophically speaking" is deemed by anyone to be so indelicate that they are offended - then remain offended. I am writing for the sensibilities of this board and its collective personalities, and if that is deemed to be over the top insulting of a person in the same way that your pussy bitch ass and go crawl in a hole and [censored] yourself you anti-american [censored]wad are, then I am certainly guilty of misreading that. To be exact, I don't accept your analogy as apt at all. I am happy to agree to disagree...but I have a WTF look on my face that you'd equate the two. 3) And it seems like a waste of bandwidth, but I As to the gist of what I said, I really am shocked at the fact conservatives who bemoaned the "tax and spend democrats" are going bat [censored] because they are taxing and spending. Who'd a thunk? Really, BL, all I can say is that I think the skin thickness comment may be more apropos to you, at least if you think that your comment is the emotional functional equivalent to mine. And no, I was not trying to go with "I know you are - but what am I" with that comment, but I have to say that I am misreading your reading of why mine was so virulent. Sometimes a response is due to the overall posting by someone, and the emotional tone poem, as it were, of the last several posts (thinking of the Archbishop posts here). So it is likely my bad, but for a different reason than you profess. Anyway, I was referencing the non-BP tea party participants, and not intending to include present company. So instead of a [censored] sandwich, let me change it to a spam and Velveeta on wonder bread with miracle whip sandwich. ![]() Last edited by Gatorubet; 04-16-2009 at 01:16 AM. |

I've seen some protests in Columbus in my time. This looked a whole lot more like a PTA meeting.

Be very thankful that you live in the country in which one can freely speak in opposition to government and its policies. It is a blessing that people in the majority of countries do not believe that they have.

congress doesn't represent the people. congress represents wall street, the corporations and special interests. so far, in the last 6 months, they've spent enough money to give every man, woman and child in the country thousands of dollars. and who gets to foot the bill? we, the people, who weren't even in favor of the bailouts or stimulus packages. where did all the money go? in your pocket? i'm fairly certain none of it ended up in mine. the fact that the stock market went up 1500 points is a [censored]ing joke. OF COURSE the banks are going to show profits. you just gave them a [censored]ing trillion dollars! meanwhile, we the people are losing 700,000 jobs every month! how many jobs are going to disappear when GM closes 2,000 dealerships? has anyone thought about that? and those bufoons on CNBC are just cheeleading away! "the market's going back up! hooray! everything is fixed. the bear market is over, and it's time to start buying again!" please. the economy isn't fixed. it's NO WHERE NEAR being fixed. until you get Wall Street out of the government, it won't be. we're all being robbed blind. Thomas Jefferson was dead right regarding bankers. |

The Columbus Dispatch : This 'tea party' boiling mad agreed. and it was done relatively peacefully and without major incident, kudos to all involved for that. i mean nothing like a protest going violent. that is the one reason ive never been to one and never plan on it. a mobof people all it takes is a few idiots... |

do these tea parties have a guiding manifesto that I could look at? it seems to me that they don't know exactly what they are protesting other than "government spending" but are they advocating scrapping social security? medicare and medicaid? road repair? national defense? just the bailouts and the stimulus package? where is the line being drawn at
also, this is a trick question (shhh) because if they do draw the line somewhere then I call bull[censored], it's okay racking up copious amounts of debt on the programs I mentioned (which I doubt very many people are willing to cut) but it is wrong to do it on things that don't directly benefit themselves (at least in the short term) it's okay to tea bag other people, but if the the tea bags swung back and hit them in the face then there would be protests about cutting government programs and many of the same people would probably attend ![]() Last edited by Buckeye86; 04-16-2009 at 09:36 AM. |

[quote=Buckeyeskickbuttocks;1450956;]Hmm... So, you contend that the high powered business types are flaming tax and spend libs? Curious.
it doesnt take a rocket scientist to look at wall st and say hmm odd change here... ord trying explaining it as the end of the gop. i saw it as a down payment on corp welfare, isnt it odd they got their tarp, then ppip, mortgage rescues, etc etc. down payment. I'm not sure where you get the sense that I have a problem with this protest, much less "major issues" with it. not you. youve got your views and you seem reasonable. honestly you and i could sit down at a table for one hour and probably create a canidate that you and i would vote for over most of the major leaders... True enough I think it quite silly, misdirected and poorly conceived.... but.. I'm sure people feel the same way about some of the [censored] I'd feel like "protesting" too. certainly. that was my point. its not a big deal when people you mostly agree with do it.(i say mostly, if it was something you were firm enough believer in then well you wouldnt likely feel that way) Although, my protesting days are long over....personally never had any. i speak with my vote and my pocketbook....[/quote] bold. my only point was to paint this as a bunch of whack jobs is the same to paint those who marched against the war. i agree with a lot of these type things (not the end capitalism, end the nyse, kill the aig people type stuff) and i think that moderate demonstrations are fine and "needed" blah blah blah. they provide some resistance and keep it all honest and "moderate" things out. they have their rights and if either side is peaceful in doing so, fine by me... |

if increasing taxes and increasing spending is bad, wouldn't cutting taxes and increasing spending be worse? Last edited by Buckeye86; 04-16-2009 at 10:46 AM. Reason: added thought |
