| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, others don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

Second, the reaction of the Democrat pols is predictable; they're all about class warfare and bleeding the rich. And this guy has every right to do whatever the law permits him to do. With that being said, he's a greedy, weaselly little [censored] who I hope sinks rapidly into the sea. Being lucky enough to be involved in the early days of Facebook ranks up there with winning the lottery when it comes to riches without talent or effort in my opinion. The USA doesn't lose much when this guy flies the coop.

Second, the guy isn't leaving because of taxes in any ordinary circumstance, he's leaving because he's receiving a windfall and this is his way of avoiding the sort of payment that the rest of us would make and accept as a part of being a citizen. And as a Brazilian who clearly became a US citizen for convenience purposes, he's not much like those of us whose Americanness has nothing to do with convenience. He's proving that by renouncing his citizenship for nothing more than convenience purposes. Are our taxes too high? Arguably yes, but taxes are high everywhere that government services rise above third-world levels. This guy is no argument that "people are likely to leave because of high taxes." His circumstances are nearly unique. Expect him to leave Singapore for convenience purposes sometime in the near future.

Wistfully recalling the days when I considered myself an independent and sometime Republican...

I have noticed that our two party system has devolved into the following - 1 - Dem - socially liberal, fiscally extremely liberal 2 - Rep - socially conservative, fiscally liberal. As a libertarian, this does not leave me with many good options.....

I would actually look forward to and be very entertained by a Romney Administration that has to fight his own party to get anything accomplished - assuming, of course, that the Tea Party will continue to hold their principles with a Republican President. All too often though it just turns into even more spending coupled with irresponsible tax cuts. (See Bush) |

Right....because the Democratic party is so very open-arms to pro-life individuals.
