| Political Conversation and Debate This forum is not a temporary one. It will exist up to, and after the presidential elections. Some people want to talk or even argue politics, other's don't. Let's see if we can apply some reason and understanding to the debate. |

No virus can stand getting obliterated by a bottle of Jack Daniels. That's the best virus protection.

Critics: H1N1 bill gives too much power | WWLP.com Bill would OK quarantine in health crises headed to the govs desk. here is the bill Senate Bill, No. 2028 what do you guys think? part of me thinks this is a great idea. yet part of me cringes. i understand it can be appealed to the superior court, yet boy. i see the point, much like a weather emergency, be it a blizzard or hurricane (like our snow emergencies or katrina like extended periods). all this on the heels of certain states/professions requiring the h1n1 vaccination. Folks, take this thing seriously, okay? It damn near killed me and I mean that plainly. The secondary infections like pneumonia are very serious. It killed college kids here who were getting medical treatment as good or better than anything you can get in Columbus. Thousands died.

It's overrated...and dammit if I'm going to die from some BS, I'd rather eat a Buckeye and die by being a hardcore Buckeye.

MAC, it's not over-rated and young people have a disproportionate chance of complications, such as pneumonia.
What can you do? First, prevent it. It's a virus, so all your doctor can do is treat your symptoms. Viruses hate vitamins, so up your count of B and C vitamins. I don't mean in a crazy way or to exceed recommended dosages, but make sure that you are getting a healthy dose of B and C vitamins. Get plenty of rest and exercise. The better condition you are in, the better you can fight it and perhaps even avoid it. If you can get vacinnated, then I think that is first prize, but nutrition, exercise, and rest will help. Second, if you get flu-like symptoms, fight it. Don't wait, see your doctor immediately. The Novel Influenza A H1N1 virus has tell-tale symptoms. Congestion, cough, and usually diarrhea. The big symptom is growing fatigue. I never felt so tired in my entire life, even after sleeping 12 hours. As it advances, it gets to the point where even sitting up takes too much effort. It really whacks you. If you get H1N1, insist on TAMIFLU. Doctors will tell you that Tamiflu is only useful within two days of catching H1N1, but it helps reduce its severity even if you take it much later and, more importantly, it helps you recover from the complications that follow, like pneumonia. It is important to not exaggerate the threat of H1N1, but equally, it's important to not dismiss it. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Last edited by Steve19; 10-15-2009 at 04:57 PM. |

The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta has a very informative site (link):
How do I know if I have the flu? You may have the flu if you have some or all of these symptoms:
Here is a more informative CDC site (link). Here is an informative Canadian site (link). I hope this helps you guys avoid this. |

I'll treat this as a rumor at this point, but a friend of the family who is a Doctor/Professor told my Mom this afternoon that the Canadian Government has found that the swine vaccine has actually made people more susceptible to getting the H1N1 virus. Could have been lost in translation by the time it got to me... but it will be interesting to see if anything comes up in the next few days.
