Well it's apparently a pretty high priority in others' lives right now - seeing how much non-bimbo (before somebody calls me on it - they're both bimbos) news on this issue is coming from various states

I admire her for standing up and giving a straight answer and I agree with her too. There is just as much hate from some posters directed to her and those who believe as she does as they claim the conservatives hate gays.

5-imo marriage (of any type) is a state issue. i am however glad that we live in a country that people have their choice to excercise their freedoms (even if they do have to move) in just the same way i am eligibil to excercise many of the freedoms i enjoy and respect (even though i cant do all of them in all states).

Points 1-4 are spot on. However, I disagree with 5. (only the part in boldmind you, as the rest is spot on).

Marriage is a religious ceremony and should be separate from any state mandate. Oh hell, I posted the following a couple of weeks ago in the other gay marriage thread, so I'll paste it here too.

Too bad Miss California didn't mention the above. It wouldn't have been "sensational", it wouldn't have gotten Hilton's boxers in a bunch, but it may have actually caused a much more meaningful debate in this country.

I'm simply saying that the tour and NOM association means she is fair game as far as people criticizing her goes. Personally, I find her views to be similar to a statement that she disapproves of mixed marriages. I know many here do not think the two similar. I do. So in that light, I'd never condone her statement, and I would continue to think she was a doubchebag no matter what her public role.

So while I would understand it if someone booed when she made her statement, if people followed her around to her home or work and harassed her for her views, I would think it rude, boorish and childish, as in her defense she did not pick that question, and she answered it in accordance with her religious beliefs.

When she went on a tour banging the no gay marriage drum and cozying up to NOM, then she invites lots of people to trash her and her views. No sympathy from me.

And it [censored]es me off to read about how her Freedom of Speech is being denied because of criticism. Freedom of Speech means that you are free to express a thought, not that you are free from criticism for what you say.

I really don't care about pageants, and do not care who won or who got implants, but it seems like the fix is in if you set some honeys up with fake boobs at pageant cost and not others. I thought she had a legit beef about the set-up anti-gay question until I saw how they paid for her rack and not for everyone to get a set.

I don't care about humble. But while I think she is a moron, I think that giving her that question was unfair.

ok agreed. i lumped marriage and civil unions.

personally i have only had the opportunity to vote on "civil unions" and not gay marriage. for the record i voted against civil unions but not for any sort of bias but rather the cost of application and ramifications. civil unions as i understood it i would have included likely older couples (who could unite but not marry-pension, healthcare etc issues). then again i think a great chunk of ohio saw it as the gays marrying issue in 2004 when it was on the ballot.

It was her personal opinion on a very public forum. The judge should be getting some too, since he also spewed personal opinion in a public forum. I can concede the media is hunting but it isn't the first, or the last, time that will happen. Don't want to be hunted? Say your piece in private not on a beauty pageant stage.
