Mets pitcher suspended for 'roids
What's with all the pitchers on 'roids???
Mets reliever Heredia suspended 10 games for steroids
NEW YORK -- New York Mets reliever Felix Heredia was suspended for the first 10 days of next season for violating baseball's steroids policy.
Heredia became the 11th major league player suspended for steroids. The announcement came Tuesday.
Traded from the Yankees to the Mets during the offseason, Heredia appeared in only three games before going on the disabled list in April with a strained left thumb. Doctors then found an aneurysm in his left shoulder after he began having circulation problems and he missed the rest of the season following surgery.
Heredia is 28-19 with six saves in 511 career games, all but two in relief.
Players suspended for 10 days in 2005 for violating major league baseball's drug program:
April 3 -- OF Alex Sanchez, Devil Rays
April 11 -- OF Jorge Piedra, Rockies
April 20 -- RHP Agustin Montero, Rangers
April 26 -- OF Jamal Strong, Mariners
May 2 -- RHP Juan Rincon, Twins
July 8 -- RHP Rafael Betancourt, Indians
Aug. 1 -- 1B Rafael Palmeiro, Orioles
Aug. 2 -- RHP Ryan Franklin, Mariners
Sept. 7 -- INF-OF Mike Morse, Mariners
Oct. 4 -- x-RHP Carlos Almanzar, Rangers
Oct. 18 -- x-LHP Felix Heredia, Mets
x-to begin at the start of the 2006 season

So here's a question. Let's pretend he got tested today, the 18th. Let's also pretend steroids are detectable for up to 18 days. Are we supposed to believe that A) He took steroids on October 1st for the 1st and only time of his life, or B) Baseball just couldn't catch him till now, which means there are probably hundreds of players baseball hasn't caught yet.

Don't ask me -- there's too much math involved in that.

Each ester is dectable at different times. Anyone can get away with it. Some take very little time to pass through the system. Anyone who believes that they aren't being used in mass qualities in all sports is being naive...imho....

The majority of the pitchers on that list are relief pitchers. It puts an unbelievable strain on someone's arm to throw on consecutive days like these guys do. These guys have to be ready to go every single night. Steroids will help them recover quicker from the everyday grind of coming out of the pen.
Andro use was pretty prevalent when I was in college. Throwing 120 pitches on Monday and then coming back to throw 120 on Thursday without any discomfort was nothing out of the ordinary.
No way someone could do that for a whole season and stay healthy without a little performance-enhancing boost.
