Pitchers actually hitting
Is there a certain reason why pitchers are hitting extremely better this year. I've noticed a lot of them have been even helping out thier own cause with a few HR's. Just check out Arroyo for the Reds alone he already has more HR's hit then allowed.

emphasis on the pitcher as a "real" 9th hitter.

Answer: Glendon Rusch sucks
How do you grove 0-2 pitches against the same pitcher who just a week before launched one off you?
Oh well, Ill take it.

two points
1) I venture to say.. that all pitchers were outstanding hitters earlier in their lives.. think of it.. the stud pitcher of your Little League and high school teams was most likely some of the best hitters on the team.. often the best .. CC Sabathia was a fabulous hitter in HS..
Tom Verducci (lead baseball writer for SI) wrote that every pro could be taught to hit a major league fastball.. that the batting instructors are gurus.. whether the pitcher can hit any other pitch separates them from the pack
Maybe the opposing pitchers had brain farts and thought "I'll get ahead of this turkey by throwing something hard and straight down the middle"
2) I just loved the story the other day.. think it was St Louis opening day at their new park.. and the Card pitcher hit his first major league HR in the very first opening day at the new park..

I was only able to get to a few spring training games this year but the pitcher hitting well was something I noticed... especially for the Pirates.

Will this create more of a home field advantage for the NL in the WS?

I saw on ESPN that Arroyo was only the second pitcher ever to homer in each of his first two starts of the season. But I never saw who the other guy was, does anybody know?
