Nigel Thatch, the actor best known as Leon from the beer commercial series, has been traded by the Schaumburg Flyers to the Fullerton (Calif.) Flyers of the independent Golden League. In return for Thatch's playing rights, Fullerton will provide Schaumburg with a pallet of Budweiser --60 cases. "This trade is a bargain for us as we were prepared to throw in a Clydesdale as well," said Fullerton GM Ed Hart. "Nigel is a legitimate pro player and should compete for a roster spot on our team." The right-hander was 0-3 in seven starts. "Nigel really gave us a unique presence in the sports marketplace last summer," Schaumburg owner Rich Ehrenreich said. "In the true spirit of `Leon Time,' we'll have a cold one courtesy of Fullerton and thank Nigel for his time here."
