Well, I see this from another perspective, having one of those "hated teams" here in LA, the Lakers, we have grown pretty used to being deep in the hunt every year, and whether it's being selfish or what, anything less than a western conference championship feels like the team, owners, and coaches under-achieved. I know it sounds stupid, but it's something the fans have grown to expect. Whether it's right or fair, or what, doesn't matter, the fans pay to go see a team that's supposed to be champions. The Lakers, however, don't have near the payroll of the Yankees, so you compound the complaints here in LA times five and there you have the end result. |

Nearly everyone in New York wanted to know Tuesday whether owner George Steinbrenner will keep his longtime manager or let him go after 12 straight playoff appearances.

"Have some patience. Things take time. There will be a process and we'll work through that, and it will lead us where it leads us," general manager Brian Cashman said. "My speculation is I'm not going to have anything to report in the next couple of days."
