Wow - the Yankees have to learn to treat people better. I will hate to see Posada or Rivera leave because of this...

I have heard a lot more people mentioned as leaving than those two, even Jeter has been rumored about.

Those two have made explicit Torre comments, thats why I mentioned them. Rodriguez has only made vague comments around Torre and Jeter would never say anything publically. But you're right, anythign could happen now. The only situation that I coud see improving is with Cano - he and Torre didnt seem to get along all the time.

wow...looking at the proposed offer
Joe Torre was in line to make 8 million dollars had the Yankees won the World Series. Even the base salary of 5 million is pretty absurd. I like that Joe turned it down, it sends a message to Steinbrenner that no one else had ever tried to send.

That is, if Steinbrenner (Sr.) is lucid enough to get the message...

The 2nd highest manager salary for 2007 was $3.5M -- $5M with incentives going up to 8 is still pretty good for managing baseball.

Jmo but Cano is one I don't think they would want to get rid of, but then again that's what I thought about Soriano. Man was I wrong about that.

I think they will try to keep as many of the young stars as possible, especially if Posada and Rivera leave.
If you start with:
Cano
Cabrera
Joba
Kennedy
Ramirez (maybe?)
Molina
Wang
Phillips
Ohlendorf (personal addition)
and factor in that Jeter will probably stay, probably Matsui and/or Damon as well... thats a good nucleus to build around. Who knows what A-Rod/Boras will do. Nothing that happens will suprise me with that situation.
