Jake Westbrook and the Tribe staff

This kid now has 4 complete games and the second lowest ERA in the American League at 3.10. He could make a legitimate run at the Cy Young award. His record may hurt him. He's 8-5 right now. The best he could hope for by seasons end is probably something like 15-7.
If he throws a few more complete games and continues to hover around a 3.00 ERA he'll have to be one of the finalist.

The Tribe is compiling a fine pitching rotation.
If they can keep these young everyday players together for a couple more years, they may actually field a team that has a better shot at winning the world series than the team of the mid and late 90's.
A solid three man rotation is what's needed in the playoffs and Sabathia, Lee and Westbrook could be dominating in another year or two.

Some fine trades have been made by the Tribe front office.

Colon for Lee, Phillips and Sizemore.
Justice for Westbrook
R. Alomar for Trabor (future 4th starter)

There are three of your top four starting pitchers and everyday centerfielder obtained for Bart Colon, R. Alomar and David Justice.

Fine job by the tribe! I hope they can make it down the stretch run. I'm not a Indians fan but I respect them for doing the right thing to win. These guys will be with them for awhile. They are doing it the right way! Kudos Tribe!

Congrats to this group of overachievers...if they had even a minor league bullpen the first 75 games, they'd probably be in first.

what is the deal with russell branyan? he just got traded to my team, the brewers. I've heard all he can do is hit mammoth home runs. Can't hit, can't play defense, strikes out every 3 AB's. Sounds like a real gem eh?

can anyone give me anything positive about his acquisition? anything at all? bueller....bueller....

Most of his hits are HRs

Can't help you I didn't follow him in Cinci

Branyan is straight up feast or famine, but mostly famine.
He couldnt even make it any higher than AAA on the indians swaud this year.
He needs to go over to Japan and play some ball with Tom Selek to get his swing straightened out.

Hopefully the Brewers give cleveland oil can boyd or eddie harris from major league to strengthen their bullpen. 5 games out and 24 blown saves.

It's good to see the Tribe doing well. It's much more fun to have them choke away their talent in the postseason than for them not to see the post-season at all.
