TORONTO -- The Blue Jays put the finishing touch on a trade with the Reds on Friday, dealing right-hander Justin James to Cincinnati to complete the swap that sent outfielder Buck Coats to Toronto.
The Jays acquired Coats from the Reds on Wednesday at the Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tenn. During Spring Training, the 25-year-old Coats will be competing for Toronto's lone available bench spot.

A living breathing pitcher for Buck Coates...wtf has gotten into Krivsky? He seems to have forgotten he's a complete 'tard.

Reds reel in Volquez from Rangers
Cincinnati sends Hamilton to Texas for pair of pitchers
By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com
The Reds acquired a pitcher in a trade with the Rangers on Friday they felt was as coveted as two of their own elite prospects -- Homer Bailey and Johnny Cueto.
This right-hander's name is Edinson Volquez. And the steep price needed to get Volquez was sending outfielder Josh Hamilton to Texas. Cincinnati also received Minor League left-handed pitcher Danny Herrera in the deal.
"I look at this as kind of a quality-for-quality or value-for-value type of trade," Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky said. The 24-year-old Volquez was the Rangers' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2007 after working through three different levels and the Major Leagues. Combined at Class A, Double-A and Triple-A, he was 14-6 with a 3.67 ERA and 166 strikeouts over 144 2/3 innings. With Texas, he was 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in six starts.

With Hamilton's unique situation being what it is, he is one former Red I will continue to follow and root for. Nice knowin ya Josh....

Reds trade Hamilton for two pitchers
Move opens outfield spot for top prospect Bruce
Saturday, December 22, 2007 3:11 AM
By Scott Priestle
The Columbus Dispatch
CINCINNATI -- The Reds acquired another talented young pitcher last night and opened room in the outfield for Jay Bruce, perhaps the top prospect in the game. It cost them outfielder Josh Hamilton, one of the few obvious success stories of the 2007 season and one of the most gifted players in the organization.
The Reds traded Hamilton to the Texas Rangers for two pitchers, led by right-hander Edinson Volquez, 24, who joins Homer Bailey, Johnny Cueto and Matt Maloney as candidates for the final two spots in the rotation in 2008, while giving the club the potential for a strong rotation in 2009 and beyond.

OSUBBJ-this is the 2007 thread, if it matters most of this discussion is already in the 2008 Reds thread.
We Reds fans like to move the hell on after a season is over(like the past 17), we need to close the books on this pig.

Blame me too, then.
I didn't even catch the '2007 season' part, and wasn't aware of a new Reds thread. Moving right along, nothing to see here....
Let's Deep Six this bitch, no?
