How stupid do people (mainly ESPiN "experts") look for saying the Yankees were out of the playoff race with over 100 games left?

I don't think anyone was saying that they were out of the playoff race, just that they didn't look like a division-winning team. Everyone knew that they would start winning some games once Cano and Abreu stopped sucking and their rotation got healthy.

Actually, just about everyone employed by ESPN was saying exactly that. Mind you, I'm not speaking at all to the prognostic abilities of the analysts of any network--I'm just saying that a few weeks ago, there were several individuals ready and willing to declare the Yankees dead weight. I found it ridiculous then, and I find it ridiculous now.
And yes, I recognize that I'm only saying this at what is likely to be the crest of the Bombers' current winning streak. Rest assured, they will make the playoffs. Like the Lakers of old (read: of five or six years ago), the Yankees will make their mark, and everyone who wanted to count them out will wind up eating his or her own words.
