Clemens leaves door open to pitch again
HOUSTON -- Roger Clemens isn't ready to say whether he's done pitching, but he knows who he'd like to see back as manager of the New York Yankees next year.
The seven-time Cy Young winner discussed his future and that of Joe Torre on Thursday while Clemens and Johnny Bench were holding a golf tournament as part of the Administaff Small Business Classic that begins Friday in Spring.
Asked whether he'd be back for his 25th season, Clemens said, "You know I haven't been very good at this, I thought last year was good. I thought three or four years ago was good."

Search Continues For New Yankee Manager
NEW YORK -- Don Mattingly has been making managerial moves with the New York Yankees for several seasons -- in his head.
"I've heard that experience thing come up a lot," he said, "but in my own mind I've been managing for the last four years, and to be honest with you, as a player you're playing along the whole time."

Source: Girardi expected to accept Yankees' offer
The Yankees officially offered their managerial job to Joe Girardi Monday morning and he is expected to accept it, a source has told 1050 ESPN New York's Andrew Marchand. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told Don Mattingly and Tony Pena that they will not be getting the job.
Girardi was in the Denver for the World Series. A source said he is expected to fly to New York for the announcement, which is likely to come Tuesday. Girardi's contract is expect to be in the three-year, $6 million range.

Sources: Girardi agrees to 3-year deal to manage Yankees
The Yankees have agreed to a contract with Joe Girardi to become the team's next manager and an official announcement could come as soon as Tuesday, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
Girardi will sign a three-year contract worth approximately $7.5 million.
According to Olney, one person Girardi would want on his staff would be former Cubs pitcher Mike Harkey, perhaps as pitching coach.

Yankees offer closer Rivera $45M, 3-year deal
Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Mariano Rivera was offered a $45 million, three-year contract to stay with the New York Yankees. Now, the team is waiting to hear back from its star closer.
Rivera
"He'd be by $4 million a year the highest-paid relief pitcher," Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said Tuesday. "To say that's a strong offer would be an understatement."
On Monday, the Yankees retained catcher Jorge Posada when they upped their offer to $52.4 million for four years. Posada is due to take a physical Wednesday, another step toward finalizing that agreement.
