Cincy Reds to retire No. 13 Concepcion's number will hang with franchise's elite BY BILL KOCH | BKOCH@ENQUIRER.COM ![]() Probably because it was considered unlucky, only four Cincinnati Reds have ever worn No. 13 - Eddie Miller in 1946, Eddie Pellagrini in 1952 and 1953, coach Ray Shore in 1966-67, and Davey Concepcion, who asked for the number in 1970 and wore it proudly until the day he retired in 1988. Now the Reds have made sure that no one in a Cincinnati uniform will ever wear it again.
