BSH: "I agree to a point, but, would you rather have the ability to spend that money or not? would you rather be the yankees or brewers? red sox or royals?"

No question about it. Having the money helps. A LOT. But, I'd rather be a fan of the Marlins, the Twins, or the A's than a big market flop team like the Red Sox or Mets.

Even in down years, you know (I'll use the Twins) for example that they're bringing up young exciting players like Torii Hunter, Johan Santana, and Christian Guzman. They'll get a window somewhere to win it all (albeit a short one), and is more pleasing to cheer for than a team like the Mets who lose with old, fat, whining, and overpaid players like Mo Vaughn, Roberto Alomar, and John Franco.

Just take the two Cleveland "salary dump" trades for example: I'd rather be a fan of the Indians on the side of the Bartolo Colon and Roberto Alomar deals than the Mets. You know the Indians will make the right moves and build towards a championship with likable players rather than a Mets team that will trip over itself and its $100 million payroll for the rest of eternity. I don't think there's a question as to who I'd rather be a fan of in that case.

"The facts are that it isn't a level playing field regardless."

No question. I never disagreed with you there.

I think you mistook my point. I didn't really mean be a fan of, because I'd rather root for the brewers than any other team. It's what I grew up with.

What I meant was would you rather that your team "have money" like the yankees or redsox versus the brewers or royals or the like. I mean it is an obvious answer, but just illustrates my point that no matter what people quote about the twins or the marlins....100 out of 100 would rather have the financial capabilities of the big boys.

I had trouble rooting for the marlins the second time because they dumped after their first w.s. and i felt they didn't "deserve" another. Especially when I've been pained with 12 straight losing seasons....ugh. I wonder how cubs and sox fans feel cause they haven't won a w.s. in like 90 years and the marlins tick off two in what, seven years? wow.

I'd like to mention the fact that only the Yankees can sign THEIR OWN FREE AGENTS. Tell me who the last great player to leave the Yankees for another team......

Bernie Williams was close to signing with the Red Sox, but then Steinbrenner swooped in at the last minute with a boatload of cash and....Williams stayed in pinstripes.

I'd have to be over a 100 years old to remember, so I don't recall either!!

I don't think you can compare their first 7 with the marlins. 2 different era...hell centuries!!lol.

They were playing ball during the same last 7 years and didn't win jack. Marlins won 2. Sad. sad for everyone who has been trying to win for a long time. I think what is says to me is " hey, look at us. we haven't been around for that long and we did what you haven't been able to do since the railroad was still prevalent!"

trust me - it hurts me too.

BSH: "I think you mistook my point. I didn't really mean be a fan of, because I'd rather root for the brewers than any other team. It's what I grew up with."

No, I understood you. We are who we are. You grew up with the 'Crew, I grew up with the Yankees. My theoretical argument was kindof, "If someone just came down from the moon, and could choose a team, who would he/she choose?"

My point (Yankees excluded) is that its more enjoyable to cheer for a small market team that does the right things than cheer for a big market team that can't stay out of its own way.

"100 out of 100 would rather have the financial capabilities of the big boys."

No question. But first and foremost, I want my team to do things the right way (with money or without money). Having the money and finishing in last place (like the Mets) every year doesn't do much for me.

" had trouble rooting for the marlins the second time because they dumped after their first w.s. and i felt they didn't "deserve" another."

Yeah, but the Fish made a lot of great moves to win the 2nd Title: Josh Beckett, Miguel Cabrera, Mike Lowell, Pudge, etc. They even lost a stud lefty (A.J. Burnett) for the season and still won it all.

"Especially when I've been pained with 12 straight losing seasons....ugh."

I think your era of suffering is nearing the end. The Brewers have a bright, bright future ahead of them. They've got a TON of kids. And Sheets is the Daddy.

JCOSU: "Tell me who the last great player to leave the Yankees for another team......"

Andy Pettite, 2004. Is that long ago enough for you? How bout another guy named Reginald Martinez Jackson (Hall of Famer) in 1982?

Oh I'm sure rooting for a team with an inflated payroll that plays .400 baseball has got to be painful. I'm sure the sports radio guys love that stuff though. In that sense, yes I agree. I dont' have expectations of my team to really do much. .500? heck I'd take it especially with a 25 mil payroll. The problem is, if you give decent money to a guy and he tanks....it pretty much derails you. That stinks.

I know the crew have what was rated as the #1 minor leagues by BBA, BUT, that is just hype, hope, and want. Until they produce, I'm not sold. I'm happy we have SOMETHING to look forward too, but still not sold on them yet. If 2 out of our top 10 prospects do anything, we will be lucky considering all the bombs that prospects turn out to be.

Sheets is a bad mo fo - but he has the worst run support in the m.l.'s. terrible offensive team. At one point, the guy was 9-7 with a 2.36 era!?! 9 and freakin 7!?!?!? wtf. now he is under .500 and has a losing record.

I think he is trying SO freakin hard to not give up one run because he knows, if he does, it very well may mean game over. Hard to pitch like that. If he could ever pitch with a 3 run lead - it would be ugly.
