Cleveland Indians' Michael Aubrey finally gets the call
Sunday, May 18, 2008Paul Hoynes
Plain Dealer Reporter
Cincinnati- Kristie Aubrey never knew her husband was so popular. She found that out after sending a text message to family and friends telling them that he was finally going to the big leagues.
Michael Aubrey was told Thursday night after his game with Class AAA Buffalo that he'd replace Jeremy Sowers on the Tribe's roster Saturday in Cincinnati. Sowers started against the Reds on Friday night.
"I told my wife and she sent out a little text message," Aubrey, 26, said. "Then I told the guys in the locker room. In about an hour, I got overwhelmed with phone calls and texts. I can see why guys change their phone numbers."

"You know what he did? He flipped it into the stands! I was like, Oh no! Give it back!' "

Cleveland bullpen Dunn in again
Slugger slams 9th-inning homer off Kobayashi; Carmona's effort wasted
Sunday, May 18, 2008
By JOSH WEIR
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER
CINCINNATI Judging by the fact that he almost hit a ball into the Ohio River on Saturday, Adam Dunn can switch from bunt mode to bash mode rather quickly.
Two pitches after failing to get a sacrifice bunt down, Dunn crushed a three-run walk-off home run off Cleveland reliever Masa Kobayashi to give the Reds a 4-2 interleague win in front of 42,023 fans ? the second sellout of the season at Great American Ball Park and the 11th largest crowd in the stadium's six-year history.
The Indians (22-21) have lost two straight at Cincinnati, both in the late innings, as the Indians' back of the bullpen continues to take on water. A great performance by Fausto Carmona was wasted Saturday, as was a 3-for-4 day by Ben Francisco.
"Benny, along with Fausto, gave us a chance to win the game," Cleveland Manager Eric Wedge said. "We just weren't able to finish it off today."

I guess I don't understand how dumb Wedge really can be after all these years in baseball. Before the game, he says he is going to use the bullpen by committee so in the ninth inning he has two left-handed hitters coming up and he has a left-hander in the bullpen. I don't care how many times Breslow has been use this year I would have rather seen him come in and lose again rather than the way it was lost by MK softballing a pitch to someone like Dunn. I don't think MK must as seen any guys over in Japan as big as AD. If nothing more, I would have brought him after MK put the first two batters on base.
Now I am wishing for Joe Blow to come back as soon as possible. He certainly isn't any worse than what we are throwing out there now to "close" games for us.

I don't understand how a guy can swing the bat as hard as he does but yet he cannot play one or two innings at first base. When our minor league manager pulled his double switch last night why didn't he put in Hafner and not Aubrey who was just brought up or did Hafner need a rest because he ran the bases the night before. Get rid of him too!
