Hopefully Roenicke puts it together in the coming weeks. It'd be nice to have relievers that throw harder than me for a change.

I love the idea if they don't make the rotation and there are innings available for them...No pressure a lot of the times, and a chance to get some major league innings...The list is long of guys that this has worked for...

The Reds defeated the Twins 6-1 this afternoon. Opposite-field 3-run homer for Jerry Gil, 2-run double for Jolbert Cabrera. 2 scoreless innings apiece from Fogg and Belisle. Scoreless innings from Mercker, Stanton, Cordero, and Mike Lincoln. Weathers allowed an unearned run in 1 inning.

Weathers a bit frustrated
BY JOHN FAY | JFAY@ENQUIRER.COM
David Weathers is a good teammate and he wants to win, so he wasn't about to complain when the Reds signed closer Francisco Cordero.
But he admits it stung a bit.
?I was a little disappointed when everything happened and the way it did,? Weathers said Thursday.

Affeldt takes first steps
Prospective starter re-learning moves
BY JOHN FAY | JFAY@ENQUIRER.COM
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Jeremy Affeldt has a lot to iron out if he is going to be in the Reds' starting rotation this year.
He has to get used to pitching out of the wind-up again.
He has to find his changeup again.

Reds notebook
Long relief could await young arms; Minor-league duty not a Baker favorite
BY JOHN FAY | JFAY@ENQUIRER.COM
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The talk of the Reds' camp this spring has been the good, young arms.
Three of the best belong to right-handers Johnny Cueto, Homer Bailey and Edinson Volquez. All three are in the race for the starting rotation. They also have options.
So, if they don't make the rotation, will they start the year in the minors?

I missed this gem from Dusty earlier this week:
Quote:
When Baker was asked who would hit leadoff when Ryan Freel and Norris Hopper aren?t playing, he said: "I hope one or the other is in the game."
That would appear not to bode well for the Jay Bruce's chance. But it should be noted that not one game has been played. Josh Hamilton went from an after thought an everyday player with a great spring.

Can't say as I'm suprised.
Watch this [censored]tard take AB's from EE and Bruce for Freel and Hopper while destroying the young arms at the same time.
You just know its coming.
