Honestly Freel and Hopper di the best today...They got on and tried to make things happen...along with Bako...The rest of the offense continues to be non existent...

I have my emergency "its just the sorry ass Reds don't get upset" mental shut off switch for situations like today so my head doesn't actually explode. They have sucked balls for a long time and continue to suck balls, I just have to remind myself not to care or get my hopes up.
Some ideas for getting better:
Todd Coffey and Juan Castro are not legit MLB players, they need to go away when AG and MB come back.
Freel and Hopper are the same player make one go away. I don't expect any return of note.
Hatteberg has value and needs to be traded for something we need. JL can be the LH hitter off the bench and emergency catcher when Ross comes back. Keppinger is your back up 1B.
We need some RH thump off the bench and EE to start playing. There is a gaping hole behind him at 3B in the organization. Another good bullpen arm wouldn't hurt. Catcher can always use a good talent uprgrade.
All in all, I still say they are a .500 team. They'll win some they shouldn't and lose the same way but all in all they will lose as often as they win.

So counting from your post, If the reds got 9 new ballplayers they could have a team?  |

3 new bench players and 1 new reliever would make them better than they are right now. Seriously if WK could package Hatte, Freel/Hopper and a prospect for a legit RH hitter we could be in business.
It would also be nice if maybe the teams translator got the word to EE that the season has started.

Couple things to hit on you said Jax...
The 3B depth is on its way up...It will be ready by middle of next season...Either Frazier, Franscisco, or Waring...
I didn't know it was that hard to find some pop from the right side to be a bench player...I mean Javy can provide some from the left side, and he wouldn't even make 75% of teams in the majors...You have to figure there is soemone we could pickup that provides more pop than Castro, Freel and Hopper combined...
I like Hopper as a guy that make things happen, and play decent outfield, and he doesn't break down as much as Freel...I would be all for getting rid of Freel, Hatte, Castro, and Coffey and finding a right hand hitter to replace them...Ag comes back and pushes Castro off the team and Kepp plays SS when a righty is on the mound and first when a lefty is on the mound or they play Kepp at 3rd a little and Gonzo at SS...
Either way that beats having two lefties platooning at first, a guy at 3rd not being pushed by anyone, and a back SS that just sucks...
