Anytime I see that 9:40 start time, I lower my expectations.

bases loaded no outs, and of course only one run in the inning.
Well I guess they could have hit into another triple-play. Reds up 1-0 in the bottom of the first. |

![]() A good article on Arroyo on Inside Edge at ESPN (premium): Atlanta Braves' Derek Lowe still relying on ground balls - ESPN Details his need to be able to pitch inside with his fastball. |

Something I felt compelled to look at since there was a later start time, and my Redsdule was thrown off..
Bronson tanks quite often, but usually after he does, he will follow it up with 2 good ones.. then go average again, until he gets bombed, then 2 good ones, etc... Ignoring his Chien Ming-Wang-ness of April '08, starting with May, he was bombed for 7 ER.. his next 2 outings were for 15 IP and 1 ER.. After the Toronto incident, he went the next 12 IP with 1 ER.. 6 ER in 6.1 IP, followed by 3 ER in the next 12 IP.. Not that I advocate Bronson Arroyo, but he follows turds with the appropriate amount of paper, most of the time. Last edited by schwab; 05-11-2009 at 10:04 PM. Reason: link to Brarroyo stats |

Alright, it's confirmed for me, Nix is the Permanent Left Fielder, until such time he proves it should be otherwise, okay and maybe Rosales at third; his defense is no worse then EE's.

The next time Rosales hits one out, he's gotta chill the [censored] out. He's like the Todd Coffey of hitters.

I just thought of something interesting listening to Thom's comment about there "not being a better guy out there than Mel Stottlemyre". Does that mean even Tebow isn't better? And how much is you life improved by if you just spend 5 min with Stottlemyre

I was kinda hoping he'd stay late and field some grounders, cause that infield turf is eating him for dinner.

Taveras, 5-5, 4R, SB, 2RBI
Bruce, his major league leading 6th outfield assist I love the aggressive baserunning and patient hitting approach this team has showed over the past two weeks. Everyone is looking to take extra bases when the defense is napping, including the pitchers, and the word should be out by now to other teams not to try and run on Cincinnati's outfield, especially Bruce. I have no idea what the hell Eric Byrnes was doing last night, or St. Louis's defense in the past series, but it's real nice watching the Reds on TV and laughing at the other teams' miscues for once. The Reds are finally on the positive side of the ledger in RS/RA differential for the first time all season, possess the third best record in the NL, and the best road record in all of MLB. Very happy to see them get this road trip off on the right foot. Hopefully they maintain it and come back no worse than 4-2. Since the 14 inning loss to the Marlins, the Reds' offense has scored 7, 3, 6, 6, 8, 7, and 13 runs. I think Rosales has earned his stay. Time to pack your bags Skippy Chippy. |
