Amazingly, the Pirates lead the league in ERA after 11 games. Only the Rangers had a worse one last year.
They are pwning the Braves today (and yesterday). ![]() |

Karstens follows Ohlendorf's great start - two pitchers acquired in the Nady trade - with one of his own and the Pirates maintain their league-leading ERA with another win over Florida.
Hard to believe the pitching to date, and the 8-6 record is nice, but losing Ryan Doumit to a wrist injury for 2 months really hurts. The Bucs not only lose their starting catcher, but one of their better hitters. |

Despite having already lost 3 position player starters to injury the Bucs are 11-7 and haven't lost a series. Just goes to show the importance of pitching. The worst ERA in the NL last year is now the best ERA in baseball, so far.
New pitching coach Joe Kerrigan looks like he might be the best signing the Pirates have made in years. ![]() |

I think the Yanks could use him at the moment but he's been a nice get for the Bucs, so far. If the Pirates ever right the ship the guys who do it will get a lot of pub...before they leave in free agency for more money.

Eighteen, yes 18, consecutive losses to the Milwaukee Brewers, 7 losses in the their last 8 games and a 12-14 record, overall.
Well, it was fun while it lasted. Football training camp is only 2 months away. ![]() |

If you have JJ Putz on your fantasy team he's having a rough outing. The Bucs have put up 4 runs on him in the 8th, still batting, and taken a 7-5 lead.
Hey, Pirates fans have to take their pleasures where we can find them. |

Looks like the Buccos are mailing it in early this year...

I see absolutely no logic in this trade whatsoever |

27 years old, home grown All Star, just signed a 3 year deal worth a meager (in MLB terms) $15 million....so they trade him.
Attendance continues to drop, so I can only surmise it is yet another salary dump. I'm thinking I'm to the point where I've been loyal long enough. It's pretty apparent the Pittsburgh Pirates don't care about what's left of their fan base. They give away trinkets and crap for almost every game, have local bands play post game concerts, fireworks, all to deflect attention from the fact that they're playing AAA baseball in one of the nicest parks in MLB, paid for in part by local taxpayers. I'm almost sorry the team didn't move to New Orleans as was rumored years ago before they got the new stadium. I could've moved on to another team without abandoning the one I grew up supporting, the once proud legacy intact. What a joke. ![]() |

![]() After seeing the Pirates bullpen implode over the weekend, the series with the Indians could be interesting as each team tries to give the game to the other team. |

Holy [censored]! The Bucs have actually clinched a winning record in interleague play. Another case of Pirates fans having to enjoy every small victory because we aren't getting big ones any time soon.
