I think this new allegation is just as interesting as the HS roiding:

A-Rod "pitch tipped" when he played for the Rangers by letting opponents at the plate know which pitch was coming in lopsided games. A-Rod expected players he helped would reciprocate when he was having an off night and needed to get his batting average up.

BTW, I'm not buying on this charge. How does A-Rod approach an opponent on that. "Hey Jhonny, if the game is out of hand, I'm going to signal you the piches. Do the same for me, OK." Just seems really far out there.

As a sidenote, Eric Young was on ESPN just saying when he played in Texas, he heard Alex used to call games. He would signal pitches to the catcher, and the catcher would call the pitch. Seems unlikely as well, but more plausible than A-Rod tipping pitches to opponents.

I don't buy this at all. That's not enough to convict someone of using steroids imo.

Yeah...but a hitter knows to look at the runner on second. Like you said....how does the hitter know to look at ARod? It would be awesome to see some video of some games where you can clearly see the hitter sneaking peaks to SS

And yet all her investigative reporting in this new book can produce are "may haves" and "allegations" and no new hard evidence. Of course, she's a former NYT reporter racing her former colleagues for a scoop on a major target, so the tabloid results aren't too surprising.

I think it'd be easier to identify A-Rod signaling things into home plate.......but that sthe point Eric Young was making too. All of this is conjecture, unless a hitter steps up and says "Yes, A-Rod and I used to tip pitches to one another". Young was saying it's unusual for another player on the diamond to call pitches outside of the catcher or pitching coach, although it does happen situationally. But if A-Rod were in fact calling pitches for Texas in certain situations, all Selena Roberts needs is one person to say, "I saw A-Rod signaling to home plate and think he was tipping pitches to our hitter" for her to make the accusation.

I hate this purple lipstick wearing, shirtless Central Park tanning, kissing himself in the mirror, Madonna adulterer as much as the next guy.......but I hate reporters who throw [censored] against the wall too.

Don't forget, he only tips the minimum at Hooter's too. I mean being a short tipper to some chick who is only one short step from stripping (or two short steps from PORN) is obviously a sign that he's a cheater at baseball.

I went from a bench rep of 225lbs to 315lbs over a 3 month football season my freshman year so yeah, I have to agree, this isn't impossible especially for a teenager who is committed to the program.

Let's not forget that A-Rod was physically mature as a 17 year old and in the MLB as an 18/19 year old much like Griffey was.
