pretty ugly if you ask me. they're down by about 20 at half time. i will agree with you though... if Michael Redd were on the team, i'm sure his 3's would help solve the zone.

This team is a complete embarassment to the United States. These guys have no idea of what a team concept is. They all act like the heavy hype that was built about them would be enough to get opponents to roll over. This team is what the NBA has become, a bunch of complacent, overpaid, premadonnas who are only in it for themselves.
I wish they would do away with NBA players in the olympics and pick up college guys, at least they would play like a team even if they lose. ........on a side note, is there a white guy on team USA? Nothing racial, just curious. Larry Brown and other coaches are the only ones that I found.

ive already made this argument with tibor. he thinks just because the talent in the college level has gone down that we would have no shot of winning.
he fails to realize college players know how to play as a team. however, our best bet is to go 1980 hockey style and pick players who are willing to play in the team system. allen iverson has to go. i just watched him dribble into 2 players and get picked....then commit an intentional foul giving PR 2 shots and the ball. the whole time after that he bitched at the ref and really represented his country well. im so embarassed right now. what a group of pathetic me-first chumps.

They did not build this team with the word "team" in mind. The fact is if you build a basketball team around college and pro players together, the USA has a pretty strong team. They didn't get a true point guard because Kidd and Bibby turned them down, and they didn't ask Kirk Hinrich. They didn't get a three point shooter because they didn't ask a Redd or even a J.J. Reddick, and Ray Allen turned them down. Lamar Odom has to play post because Jermain O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, and Shaquille O'Neal turned them down. So they have far too many slashers and cutters, and not enough post players, ball handlers, and absolutely no shooters. Also, don't forget that this team didn't get to work out too much together because of the NBA season, and the fact that many of the players on last summer's qualifying team pussied out.
But, I'll take this team.. Because they want to be there. The primadonnas you speak of are the ones that were too lazy to play for their country or too irrationally scared. These guys aren't getting paid more money or getting big cars for being on the Olympic team. And they damn sure aren't over there trying to get the approval of those that wanted to see them fail, including a strong portion of the American public that dislike the urban basketball culture. They deserve some respect, and the embarrassing thing is that the USA is too busy disowning them.

you dont deserve respect you EARN it.....and they have only earned the laughs that people give them. they are a joke of a "team" and should be embarassed for their country. dont make excuses.
