I'm sorry. Did I say Iverson was a dead-eye shooter like Mark Price or something? No! What I said is that he's the only player on the team that could make a spot up jumper. The biggest reason his field goal percentage is so low is that he tries to create too much off the dribble. If he would move off the ball and spot up and shoot without dribbling you'd see his percentage go up. No, he's not Steve Kerr, but he may be the best this team has from the outside. Period.

Richard Jefferson does not look comfortable out there. I don't think that point can be disputed. And 'Melo looks out of the flow - he doesn't run the break very well, and the zone is frustrating his natural instinct to take a player one on one.

a disciplined game can do that to players. if you ever watch city league players go to a good suburban school they look like fish out of the water. what we are seeing is how crappy the american game has become because of lack of fundamentals. these european players are invading the nba, and soon if we do not begin to teach them again we will fade. we need more kinghts, woodens, taylors, and great coaches who teach the things like footwork that are no longer in theses kdis games because such an emphasis was put on athletic ability and the fact they never went to college(or for a few years0 and lacked the coaching to teach fundamentals and a complete game. which in return has erroded the pure 5 from our game. it is a sad reality, americas reign as the worlds greatest basketball power is over, and not cuz teams are better, but because they are better coached, maybe not always in game, but great coaches teach fundamentals and we dont have them.

I caught the second half before work. LeBron looked good in the fourth quarter, apart from one ill-advised three point airball. He had a couple really nice passes, and the team as a whole actually started playing defense.

Well, having a game with Angola yet, they've guarenteed themselves to make the quarters, but I don't know that they can beat Lithuania or any of the top 3 in the other bracket, however. They need a much, much better effort in the future, because if they are down 12-15 to Argentina or Lithuania, I don't think they come back.

I love when I defend a player and he comes out and plays well. AI goes 3-5 from the outside, while the rest of the team keeps throwing up bricks.


It's the defense though that's going to carry this team if they continue to play D as well as they did in the second half today. I saw nice switches on the screens, and they finally learned that a hand in the face works pretty well even if you have no chance to block the shot.

U.S. loses to Lithuania - not an upset, but we blew the game. Err, Larry Brown blew the game. We were tired in the 4th quarter, giving up fouls and open 3-pointers. Only one substitution in the 4th by Larry Brown, and Lebron James did not play AT ALL in the second half. Does anybody remember what worked against Australia? DEFENSE, ENERGY, and SPEED! We had none of that in the 4th quarter. Thanks Larry Brown.
