I know this is apart from the talk about adding pieces to the team or what the Cavs need to do to keep Lebron here/win a championship ect...but...

About Larry Hughes... I have been a big criticizer of Larry, mainly because he takes those flat jumpers that always seem to clang off the rim very loudly. Hughes is not a jump shooter especially from 3 point range, but he has nights where he squares himself up and makes himself an average shooter. Anyways, the difference in his game last night and whenever he has a good game is free throws. When Larry is attacking the basket and slashing to the hoop, he can finish and get fouled. That also opens up his mid range game which we saw last night that he can be deadly when inside about 15 feet. If you look at his games earlier in the season, he had no free throw attempts in four of the first six games which is ludicrous for a player of his type. In those games he scored 9, 6, 3, 4 points. Then he went to the line 9 times against charlotte and dropped 22. The next night he was 5-5 from the line and had a hot shooting night overall and scored 36. He scored 17 against Dallas going 5-5 from the line, 25 against Phoenix going 10-11, and then last night he was 12-13 from the line for 40. Larry's success hinges on his ability to attack the basket and get to the free throw line and that is where he is most effective.

The guy on the radio after that game made a good point last night. Larry seemed to accept his role last night as being second fiddle to Lebron and he seemed to feed off of him. He knew Lebron was drawing doubles and attention, so he cut and was open. It resulted in a career night as a Cav. I just hope Larry can take what he did last night and carry it over to other nights.

Here's his game by game where i got the stats... NBA.com : Larry Hughes Game By Game Page

That's probably true, but it was the 4-5 for 3's that got him the career night. Most nights he'll hit 1 or 2 out of 5. I'd be happy with 20 pts. per game every night.

The reason Larry doesn't like to take it to the rim often is because he is as fragile as fine china.

Right now I think shooting has to be the primary concern for the Cavs guards. Say for example if Redd is put on the block next season. A lineup of Hughes, Redd, Lebron, Andy, and Z would be deadly.
Redd would look very good in the wine and gold.

I agree with CB40 here I do not understand some of the negativity towards the Cavs this year. They are basically stuck with this roster for the rest of the season. They are almost in the same exact position as they were last year. As long as they get everyone healthy, they are going to be the team to beat in the East in the playoffs. This is the NBA people the playoffs and regular season are completely different. I also agree with some others though that if the Cavs do not make the finals I will not be very upset by it.

Aside from LeBron, this team hasn't had a good first round pick in 9 years (Andre Miller). It's time to get it right and a good year to have a top 20.

Crawford and Heyward haven't been bad NBA players...Jackson and Wagner were hampered by injuries, and I am not counting out Shannon Brown yet, and considering we got Boobie in the second you have to consider that draft a success...

So 5 out of the last 9 years...The one real bad pick was Langdon...Diop wasn't a good pick, but he is making a solid career for himeself...

But I agree we need to really strike gold with an all-star caliber player...

Maybe at the C/PF, SG, or PG...Best player available...LBJ could play with a good player at any position, and I would take an all star at any position...

I wasn't counting Crawford and Haywood, since they never played for the Cavs.
