Phoenix Suns 07-08 Official Thread
Here we go Suns fans or uh... (14th). Is this year our year? Last year the cheap antics by the Spurs and Robert Horry changed the outcome of everything. It's arguable that if Nash didn't get slammed into the scorers table, there could be back-2-back talk. The Suns are even stronger this year. Goodbye Kurt Thomas and James Jones. Hello Alando Tucker, DJ Strawberry, Brian Skinner and the crown jewel.... Grant Hill. The team will be deeper and have a better defensive presense this year. Raja Bell, Shawn Marion and Strawberry all are unbelieveable defenders. They still lack an inside presense and will continue to outscore you instead. Brian Skinner will do his best job of replacing Kurt Thomas. Marcus Banks, who was a signed last year and did nothing, should have a turn around season. He put up huge numbers in summer leauge averaging over 30 ppg. Diaw also looks to rebound from an off year to help Amare up front. Grant Hill will add depth and play the most minutes with Raja, Boris, Amare, Nasher, Lenardo, Matrix and Skinner. Running at least 8-9 deep should be an upgrade from the 6-7 last year. DJ Strawberry is working himself into the line-up more than first round pick Alando Tucker. Strawberry is said to be NBA ready with his defense. That should help nice in the playoffs.

Brian Skinner will add a much needed banger. They addressed a big need with this signing. A think he's a little more athletic than Kurt Thomas was.

Thoughts-
Grant Hill- didn't have his stroke tonight 13/5/5 .... If he starts nailing his shots he can avg 16-18
Marcus Banks- I yhink we got a taste for his knack to score
Boris Diaw- Looked lost, and scared to shoot
Raja Bell- Playing hard as usual
Stoudamire- Def. MVP candidate 23/11
Nash- Will start the season slower than usual, so he can have energy at the end. Still an 18/12 night.
Matrix- His usual non flashy game that some how ends up in the box score 14/11
Barbosa- Not much tonight
Skinner- He's no Kurt Thomas, he's gonna have to hit the boards harder 4/1
All in all a solid first game. Durant is sick

D'antonio needs to ride banks for playing bad defense more often! He made 2 or 3 threes in a row right after that. All in all, its good to win the first one. Like they mentioned tonight, historically they aren't the best starting team in the league.
