I'm a homer, but I think Lebron has been the MVP of the league. He has had very little help and pretty much carries the Cavs on a nightly basis. They haven't won when he doesn't play. The Celtics still played well when KG was hurt and have two other really good players. I haven't seen Paul enough to judge him, but the Hornets have tailed off recently. This may be Kobe's best season, but Lebron has had better numbers and has been better in their matchups. I think the media is going to do what they can to get Kobe the MVP this year even if he isn't really the MVP.

By the time LBJ is Kobe's age he will be a better basketball talent, and LBJ is developing more and more of the will to win the desire to take the ball down the stretch, as he has shown with in the Cavs 19 4th quarter comebacks...

Basketball IQ is a wash at best, maybe even leaning towards Lebron. He's incredibly aware of his surroundings and more importantly the surroundings of his opponents and teammates.
I think Lebron should be the MVP. He's been better than Kobe in pretty much every facet of the game except defense, and even there he's making up ground.
Don't forget what happened the last time the Lakers and Cavs met up, when Lebron guarded Kobe down the stretch Kobe went cold.

I agree on the first point to some extent...LBJ is getting better and his IQ is growing, and at age 29 he will be where Kobe is if not better...But Kobe understands the game so well, understands when he needs to look for his shots and take the game over...

First off, this is kind of a stupid argument on my part because so much of being a good basketball player is athleticism. That said, and I am not going to argue that Kobe is not an incredible athlete because he certainly is, if Lebron had Kobe's basketball skill set he would be the best player the NBA has ever seen.

Lebron being a better rebounder is to be expected because he has 2 inches and 20 pounds on Kobe, not to mention that as a forward he plays closer to the hoop on both offense and defense. As a facilitator, I would agree with you, but also point out that a big part of that is Lebron's athletic ability to get to the rim against anyone in the league, and thus the need for other defenders to peel off of him to help, allowing easy dump-offs to Wallace and Z.
I also agree that the thing that Kobe has that Lebron is still developing is the killer instinct. It is certainly much better than it was last season, ever since the playoff game vs. Detroit really, and his numbers in the fourth quarter this year don't lie. But watch a Lakers game, and there are possessions that you just absolutely know that Kobe is going to take and make a shot because he understands that his team needs a bucket right then. I really just don't get that vibe from Lebron yet.
At age 29, Lebron will certainly be better than Kobe was. But I don't think he is right now.
Its really funny that everyone here is so quick to dismiss Paul too.

Most people here probably haven't seen Paul as much as Lebron and Kobe myself included. Of course to truly be a great player you have to be known by your first name i.e. Magic, Larry, Michael, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron, etc.

1a. Chris Paul
1b. Big Fundamental
3. Lebron
4. Kobe
5. Dwight Howard
Every time I see Chris Paul play, he is the best player on the court. He is leading a much less talented team (than Kobe's) to the top of the west. He outplayed both Nash and Deron Williams in their recent matchups, and it's really unbelievable how good he is already. There is no doubt that Kobe is a great player having another great season, but I just can't shake the feeling that the award has already been bestowed upon him as some sort of lifetime achievement award.
If the Spurs win it all again, I retroactively change my vote to Duncan.
