Maybe at the time they signed those contracts, but I think now they're only worth what someone would pay for them at this time. Guy signs a monster deal and goes in the tank the next season, he's not worth those monster dollars anymore even though he'll get the money either way.

In the classic sense none of those listed above are "worth it". Compare that to, doctors who save lives, nurses who care for sick, teachers who struggle every day to find a way to allow students to learn, firemen who risk their lives to save people and homes and businesses, policemen who put up with assholes, thugs, morons, criminals and dangers to keep us all safer, mom's who work dawn to dusk so we can grow up in a safe secure environment, military people who risk their lives and give up so much to keep the crazy people from our shores, and the list can go on and on. Athletes are paid to keep us sports crazies entertained and give us an avenue to be happy, sad or just bitch like most of the sportscasters do. Supply and demand fuels these salaries. If you get paid that much, then you are worth it. Just think, I made $7,100 my first year as a teacher and coached 3 sports and did a number of extra curriculars to get my first job. If they want to pay me then I am worth it no matter what the salary is. It is America. That is what we are all about. A chance to succeed no matter what. A chance to prosper. A chance to live in peace and safety. A chance to have kdis and raise them as we think. A chance to go to church without some extremist blowing us all to hell. A chance to have a say. Thank your lucky stars that you are here. There aren't many places like America. By the way, we have the worst government imaginable......except for everywhere else. The American experiment is still alive and well.
