West scores 30 and Hornets take Game 1 from Spurs, 101-82
NEW ORLEANS - David West scored a career playoff-high 30 points to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 101-82 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series Saturday night.
Chris Paul added 17 points, 13 assists and four steals for New Orleans, which trailed by as much as 11 in the first half but stormed into the lead for good in the third quarter.
Tim Duncan had a rare terrible night, going 1-of-9 from the field for a career playoff-low five points and only three rebounds.
Great win for the Hornets in game 1...We will see if they can keep Duncan down all series...
The way it's looking, I don't see how they have an answer for Chris Paul. The Lakers put Sasha on him when we played on the regular season in hopes it would annoy him enough to back away and pass to someone else. The problem is, I don't think the Spurs have someone that annoying, not to mention, I don't know if that would work in a 7 game series. The Spurs are in trouble, they look slow and old out there, granted, they have never really been a high scoring team, but compared to NO they look like they are playing in slow motion.
I do look for a rebound in San Antonio, but unless they get some serious momentum in this series they are going to have some SERIOUS issues.
