I am right with you on that. The direction the Cavs go with the pick with really give us a hint on the offseason. Cuz if Rush is there and they pass on him, they better be getting a legit SG in a trade. (I also like CDR too) I was also hoping the Cavs could somehow "buy" a late 1st rounder to try to get CDR. That would be a great move in my opinion.

The bigs are endless. It seems like they can go anywhere. Kofus if he falls, Hibbert for a true center, heck they can grab the other Lopez twin to "replace" Andy. Or they can go with a project like Hickson.

In other words... there will be players we can get that can help our team. But tonight is also about trying to get a glimpse of what trades might be out there.

I like CDR. He's not a "great" shooter, but he's a very good slasher and an already polished defender. He's the kind of guy that can give Lebron rest during a game because he can still create in space.

My only concern would be how well he plays with Lebron because of his spot-up shooting problems. But if he were perfect, he wouldn't be available at 19.

Hmmm slasher and good defender with suspect shooting. Sounds like Larry Hughes to me. I'm not willing to use the #19 pick on a backup for Lebron.
Shooting has to be the priority. The only way they are going to make Lebron's life easier besides figuring out an offense is to surround him with at least 2-3 good shooters all the time.

I'm not a big fan of the term "shooter". It implies someone who can only shoot but not penetrate. Jason Kapono is a great "shooter" but he wouldn't help this team. LeBron needs someone who can create and shoot. A big time player. A Michael Redd, Baron Davis, Gilbert Arenas type. Another Wally does LeBron and the Cavs no good.

Yes, CDR is not a good 3 point shooter. But he does have a better mid-range game. So he can knock down the 15 footers that will be open. While I like him, he isn't on the top of my list for the 19th pick. But like I said, if we could buy a late first rounder he would be my target.

if you chopped off CDR's finger, he'd still be a better shooter than hughes when his finger was normal.

I would gladly take Kapono when Wally is traded. He isn't a starter, but it never hurts to bring a guy off the bench that can shoot like that. Should have never let him go. There is only room for 1 on the team though. Of course I would rather have a guy like Redd that can do it all.

With trade rumors dominating the talk, Cavs could take Lee instead of a big man

The 2008 NBA draft is fluid.


Teams drafting as low as the Cavaliers, who have the 19th pick, probably had to have two or three different scenarios heading into draft day.

There was just no way for them - no matter how much work they put into it - to accurately predict what would unfold in front of them.


If they keep their selection, the Cavs could target Western Kentucky shooting guard Courtney Lee with the No. 19 selection.


But if some of the big men they like drop, they might take one of them.
One big man they reportedly like is Ohio State forward/center Kosta Koufos (7-foot-1, 265). The Cavs don't expect Koufos to make it to 19, but there's always a chance he could. If he's there, don't be shocked if Cleveland takes him.

Two other big men the Cavs might like are Georgetown's Roy Hibbert (7-2, 278) and Nevada's JaVale McGee (7-0, 237).


Hibbert might be the biggest player available in the draft and would really clog up the lane. However, he's not very athletic.


McGee is overly athletic, but doesn't have the skills of Koufos or Hibbert. He's not going to last very long on draft night, however, because of his
long-range potential.


Teams were burning up the phone lines Wednesday night with trade talks. Two teams got rid of their first-round picks on Wednesday - Denver (No. 20) and New Orleans (No. 27).

The Cavs reportedly talked to Portland (No. 13) about moving up to get Kansas swingman Brandon Rush (6-6, 210). But a source said teams are asking for a first-round pick and maybe an established player to move up that far in the first round.


The Cavs have also reportedly talked to Charlotte about many of its players. The Bobcats, who traded a future first-rounder for Denver's No. 20 selection, have been shopping forward Adam Morrison, forward/center Sean May and possibly guard Raymond Felton.

Another team that has shopped its first-round pick is Washington (No. 18).
The Cavs are trying to angle for a second-round pick in this draft. They could either buy a second-rounder or swap one of their two second-round picks in 2009 for one in this year's draft.

All the talk about Lee, I'm surprised I haven't seen Brazelton's name thrown around more. Brazelton was easily Western Kentucky's best player. Kid could penetrate, shoot, and find open men.

I know that Gibson must be a sign and trade but I don't understand this about AV. Does he have a no trade clause in his contract or does it have something to do with the NBA rules about contracts. It is not that I don't believe you but I just don't understand why he would have to approve a trade.

AV has right of first refusal until 12/5. It has to do with being given an offer sheet as a RFA and the Cavs matching it. AV can be traded anywhere but to the team that gave him an offer sheet before 12/5, provided he accepts the deal. After 12/5, he can be traded anywhere period.

Did some quick research on Brazelton and it looks like he might go undrafted.

Cavs better be the first team to call.

He really gets it going about 2:30 into the clip. His offensive game would be agreat compliment to LeBron.

Hibbert might be better than KK the first year, maybe two, but then KK will blow him away. Lebron has 2 years left on his deal so if I'm Ferry I'm looking a year or two down the road when I draft a player. Imagine a lineup (not starting) of West, Boobie, Redd, Lebron, and KK in 2 years. Unstoppable.

I don't really think we need defensive help that much in the post.

Besides, if there's one thing I'd trust Mike Brown to teach KK, it would be defense. Not to mention you'd have Ilgauskas mentoring him for at least a few years. With all this said, I don't think Kosta comes close to falling to the Cavs.

If we're going to go for a big, I would like it to be an offensive big. Someone who will be a legit threat to score. I'd prefer Hickson since I don't think we'd have a chance at Kosta.

ESPN Radio is reporting that the Nets have traded Richard Jefferson to the Bucks for Yi Jianlian & Bobby Simmons. Simmons' contract (you guessed it!) expires the same time as LeBron's.

If Ferry thinks standing pat is going to be good enough to continue to improve as a team and keep LeBron in Cleveland, then us fans are in for a huge disappointment in two years. With Yi's contract expiring next year - and provided they don't re-sign him, the Nets have just added another $12 million in payflex to make a bigtime run at LeBron.
