Mark Price had one request on the day when LeBron James passed him for the Cavaliers' franchise record for steals. "I say congratulations to him, but could he leave me at least one record?" Price said by phone from Atlanta.
"It's always nice to hold a record and have your name in the books, but it's hard to be upset when it's getting broken by a guy who's probably going to go down as one of the all-time greats."
James didn't leave the fans who came to the Q to see history Tuesday in any suspense. Just 25 seconds into the game, James trapped Toronto Raptors guard Jose Calderon and poked the ball free for his 735th career pick.
Delonte West picked up the loose ball and fed it back to James, who soared into the air and slammed home a dunk.

It was an appropriate way to set the mark, a near replica of his first career steal five years ago. In James' first game, Oct. 29, 2003, in Sacramento, he picked Kings' guard Doug Christie from behind. Carlos Boozer picked up the loose ball and tossed it back to James for the first dunk of his career.
Moments after Tuesday's dunk, Cavs coach Mike Brown called a timeout so James could be recognized. Brown led the ovation as James went to center court and acknowledged the crowd as a montage of his steals played on the scoreboard.

The Cavaliers had two of their stars set individual records Tuesday night, then the team finished the night with a collective mark in a rout of the Toronto Raptors. The Cavaliers' 114-94 victory at The Q was their ninth straight triumph of 12 points or more, which has never before occured in the NBA. The Cavaliers are 12-0 at home and are 18-3 overall, their fastest start in franchise history.

What happened: After getting distracted a bit in the first half by some franchise records and anger at officials, the Cavs opened the second half with a 24-3 run to put the game away for another blowout.
The Co-stars: In just three quarters, LeBron James put up 31 points and set the franchise record for career steals. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 13 points in 24 points and set the franchise record for rebounds.

Just beating a team does not seem to be enough for the Cavaliers anymore.

They?ve got to do it up big ? records, routs, more records. And for Tuesday?s guest, Toronto, the Cavs even threw in a bunch of dunks at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavs battered the Raptors, 114-94, in front of 20,049 fans to extend their winning streak to nine games ? all nine by at least 12 points to set an NBA record for routs.

?It?s unbelievable for our franchise to accomplish something like that,? LeBron James said after listing past NBA great teams that never did it ? the Lakers, Celtics and Michael Jordan?s Bulls.

If that wasn?t enough, James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas each set Cavs career records ? James for steals and Ilgauskas for rebounds.

?It felt great ... we both enjoyed it,? Ilgauskas said.

James got his record-breaking steal just 28 seconds in. He knocked away a Jose Calderon pass, which Delonte West recovered as James took off for the rim. West tossed a pass ahead to James who collected it for his second open-court dunk in the first 32 seconds.

Windhorst's blog explained that it was more a message to Hickson to work harder for rebounds.

But to me we need a big bodied backup for Z. While Andy and Wallace can guard bigs, it gives us another big body to bang down low.

Should be a good test. The second game of a back to back on the road. Hopefully last nights 4th quarter rest for the starters helps out.

daniel injured his toe last night and will be out about 2 weeks. shame he was just getting his shot back after some struggles. first real injury of the year.

It's time for Pavs to setup. I'm guessing he will fill most of Boobie's minutes. The team seems to bog down a little when only 1 of Mo, West, and Boobie are on the floor. Now either Mo or West have to be on the floor the whole game until garbage time.

Why? What have they done that makes you so sure about that? They've played a very easy schedule, had two ugly losses at home and one on the road, and just last spring the C's kicked LA's ass in the Finals.

The Lakers are talented and I think they can win the NBA title, but I see nothing right now that suggests they're better than Boston. The only thing they have on Cleveland, IMO, is depth.

Really not sold on Bostons bench. James Posey left a pretty big hole. Scallabrine is playing a decent amount, and Leon Powe is solid, but definately not Anderson Varejao or Lamar Odom caliber.

I'll also take the always improving Jordan Farmar over Tony Allen as far as backup PG's go.

Boston is a great team, but they've played some close games, and I'd expect them to struggle at some point this season. I could easily see Cleveland and LA having better records by the end of the year. Their benches are worth several games alone over the C's IMO.

The Celtics bench is by far the weakest of the three team which will cause their starters to play more during the season because they can't count on their bench to hold games. I haven't watched the Lakers, but I know the Cavs bench has done a great job of holding leads and keeping the starters on the bench in the 4th. Minutes will catch up with the old Celtics by the end of the season. A couple more 7 game rounds in the playoffs won't help either.

The Cavs are -14 or so with LeBron on the court.

Made a big run with leBron on the bench, gave the lead back with LeBron on the court.

His help defense as usual has been phenonmenal, and he makes amazing blocks in transition. But Andre Igoudala is eating him up 1 on 1. A few minor adjustments, and I think we pull away in the second half.

The talent differential is readily apparent. Hopefully they come out and put the clamps on them and have a nice 3rd quarter run.
