Josh Childress
Former lottery pick and Hawks 6th man spurns the Hawks mid level exception to sign a 3 year 20 million with Olympiakos of Greece.
Seems like a smart business move to me.

And they say that the team is going to take care of his tax burden somehow, and that the strength of the Euro is basically going to make him a rich man. Makes financial sense, with the plus being that he couldn't stand the Hawks organization anymore, either. Seems like a smart move to me...but then, I would almost rather spend some time in a foreign land for a few years, just for fun.

I heard the taking of care tax burden thing but I could be wrong but I've talked to some people that worked overseas and they indicated that alone would get you out of US Taxes.
Plus if he has any illegitimate children a US court couldn't garnish his Greek wages.

I bet Shawn Kemp wishes he could have had a deal like this.

Childress has opened up an interesting loophole for restricted free agents, since your NBA team has no right to match an offer from a Euro club. So if you don't mind playing in Europe for a couple years, then why not?
I read that his Greek deal has an opt out clause after every season for him to return to the NBA. Apparently, Houston restricted FA Carl Landry is also now exploring this option.
