I know they really wanted to try and get Joe Smith... but Stromile Swift would be a pretty solid late season addition.

So what are the Suns going to do in the offseason? Who will be left after the exposion?
I think the Suns should keep: Amare Stoudemire Grant Hill Leandro Barbosa Goran Dragic Lou Amundson Jared Dudley I think the Suns should trade: Shaq Steve Nash Jason Richardson Guys I don't care what they do with: Matt Barnes Robin Lopez Stromile Swift Alando Tucker Shaq was pretty damn good this year, but the Suns need to rebuild. It sounds like Shaq wants out of Phoenix and I'm sure there will be some team who can use him and getting rid of his huge salary would be great. I love Nash, but like I said, this team needs to rebuild. Goran Dragic can take over the reigns and I think he's fully capable. I like Jason Richardson too, but we need a power forward more than another shooting guard. I want to see Leandro Barbosa as the shooting guard instead of playing the point. The Suns should be able to get some good players in return for Nash, J-Rich and Shaq or atleast some decent draft picks. Amare is going to have to go back to playing center. Sorry Amare, but you are more productive when there aren't any other big men on your own team taking up the space underneath that you use to drive to the basket. So the Suns are going to need a back-up point guard, starting power forward and another big man to back up Amare. Starting lineup next year Goran Dragic - PG Leandro Barbosa - SG Grant Hill - SF ???????? - PF Amare Stoudemire - C |

I agree 100%. They need a defender who can also rebound. They need a solid PF who doesn't need to be good at scoring because Amare can handle that responsibility. We need a young Dennis Rodman. |

From listening to Steve Kerr give interviews the last couple of days, it sounds like they want to keep Nash and listen to offers on everybody else.

BJ Mullens!? You've got to be kidding me.
The Associated Press: After Shaq trade, Suns could go big again in draft |

I haven't been a big Mullens fan, and you know i love the Suns... but, let's not forget that just about 7-8 months ago he was predicted as a top 3 pick. The kid is an athlete, the Suns system could be a good fit for him to blossom in. |

he's gotta put on about 40 pounds and grow a pair before i jump on the bandwagon. he got abused by 6'8" corn fed white boys in the B10. how is he going to prosper in the NBA? i'm really joking around a lot here. who knows with these guys right? |

I think for what's out there at pick 14, it's a good investment. We have zero size again now Shaq is gone... Robin Lopez never showed physical play, and was called out all year for that. Personally I like James Johnson and Dejuan Blair... they may be off the board, and Blair isn't the best fit for our system. Earl Clark is ok, but I feel he would be an average role player, and isn't an in the paint guy... and no shot I want skinny ass Austin Daye. So, needing a big man that can run the court, with a franchise that is boderline rebuilding mode... Mullens is a decent gamble.

If the deal had Biedrins, Wright, Belinelli and Curry for Stat, that would be pretty crazy. That's 4 first round picks for Amare. I'd imagine the Suns would send something else that way. I didn't like the deal when it wasn't showing Curry included.... but with him, I kinda like it. He's a starter from day one with Nash in the backcourt. Pack your bags J-Rich. |

I hope the Suns keep Barbosa. It will be interesting to see what the Suns look like next year after all these trades. They're probably going to miss the playoffs again. |

they still botched a championship team after an over-reaction to a series they should have won in the Western Conference Finals.
Steve Kerr has ruined that team, under extreme pressure to relieve the team of financial obligations. So I'll give him a slight pass, but the line-up of Nash, Stat, Bell, Marion, and Diaw was money. Especially for that style of play. I will just never understand the philosophy change, forcing D'Antoni out, and trading for Shaq. It was odd, poorly thought out, and now leaves a once consistent winner in shambles. There is so much appeal to having a fast break team in Phoenix, with a coach set on taking a high percentage shot in les sthan 7 seconds. It just made sense....it's unfortunate a good NBA city will now be left with a team stuck in the lottery for 2-3 years. |
