"Cut" Blocks Getting the Chop?

An example of the negative results of a "cut" block was the season ending injury to Tony Williams of the Bengals during their Monday Night Football win over the Denver Broncos. Ironically, Williams was recently visiting with the Broncos as a free agent.

This may result in rules changes to limit use of this blocking technique in future seasons. Whither Denver's running game when that happens?

I remember that play, it was horrible. The league should definitely outlaw chop blocks for the health of defensive players. IMO, it is more dangerous to recipient than a spearing type tackle.

I don't see a problem with it unless the d-lineman is already stood up by another o-lineman. Then it should be a 15 yarder, but to just cut somebody, they are able to see it coming. I mean sometimes when you want to throw a quick pass you want the d-line to not have their hands up so you cut them to get them down. Also if a team is blocking like that you watch out for it and then step on them when you go over them. They will evenutally stop doing it.
