A 3-month reduction for good behavior would mean the 20 months end on July 19th, 2009, since he started his term on Nov. 19th. That surely puts the 2009 season in doubt, even if pending state charges and further suspension by Goodell don't make it impossible.
I'm not sure why, but in his statement outside the courtroom, lead attorney Billy Martin said that Vick would serve "18 to 23 months".

another thing he could do and I bet his lawyers are working on it, is to have him take that 9 month drug abuse class to cut off 1 year and 6 months in a half way house. The waiting list in the federal system is long as hell but, he has the money and the lawyers to get him in that class as fast as possible and he should get into it because, he tested positive for drug abuse with his probation test. Say with good luck, he does 9/11 months taking the class then, he gets 6 months at a half way house. Thats the biggest scam the government has going on. They would let him practice or play with his team if, he gets one but, he has to pay 25% or 35% of each pay check to the half way house. I know the couple in akron are owned somewhere around 50% by a few judges.

< rant >
I think all of this is just madness... Yes, what he did was wrong, and I am a pet owner, but they were just dogs, folks are acting like he murdered people or something... And all of these folks who place pets over people need to be shot, where are your voices when athletes/celebrities/every day joes are beating their wives? Huh? Right... SILENT...
Vick was stupid for continuing his hood ways after he got all of that money knowing good and well that no matter how much he amassed, if something went down the money would mean nothing! The ONLY difference between Vick and the average brotha on the street getting caught up is that he can afford a better defense attorney.
When will they[athletes and celebrities such as T.I] learn? They were blessed to come into that fortune and they should have sat their dumbasses down and enjoyed the fruits of their labors instead of running the streets with people [including family because we all know they can get you caught up quicker than your friends] who would toss you under the bus to save their own sorry hides.
I hope this serves as a lesson to our young collegiate athletes everywhere: It's okay to get money, but when you do get it, sit your ass down somewhere and act like you have some sense of home training! Please?

Vick's financial hit
Tuesday, December 11, 2007 3:08 AM
A look at the staggering financial losses, approaching an estimated $142 million, incurred by Falcons quarterback Michael Vick:
Salary $71 MILLION
? In the final seven seasons of his Falcons contract, which the team is expected to terminate when salary-cap ramifications are resolved
Endorsements $50 MILLION
? Lost in the next 10 years, according to an estimate by the University of Oregon's Warsaw Sports Marketing Center
Lost bonuses $19.97 MILLION
? Previously paid bonuses that an arbitrator has ruled the Falcons can recoup from Vick, though the ruling is being reviewed by a U.S. District Judge in Minneapolis
Escrow $928,073
? Funds that Vick put into an escrow account as part of his plea agreement for the care of about 54 pit bulls found on his property
? Note: Vick also has been sued by three banks for alleged defaults on a total of $5.8 million in loans
