No, actually, his game isn't at all about passing. Like mentioned before, the Bucs and Panthers are a combined 1-5. They are not good teams so don't think he did anything spectacular.
So you think their defenses are not good?
Quote:
He was actually just up against the Saints, who he made look like a superbowl team.
Steve Young and co sure seemed blown away by their execution/skill on offense.
Quote:
Vick is lucky that his fumble the play before wasn't taken back for 6, and instead hit out of bounds.
kind of like Palmer's back to back fumbles before an INT.
Quote:
They have been molding that team for 6 years to fit around him, and the players around him are perfectly capable.
When Vick is constantly being tackled between the hashes by three players at once, I think I'll put just a little blame on the guys up front. That's not my definition of perfectly capable...

What good WR would want to play in Atlanta right now? If I'm a top WR I want to go to Indy, NE, or Seattle since they throw the ball most of the time, and are known for having good passing QB's. I watched bits and pieces of the game last night, but at one point they showed how well the Saints were covering the Falcons WRs. That either speaks poorly of the Falcons WRs or the routes that they are having them run, probably both. IMO Vick is a run first QB with suspect accuracy. Unfortunately for him he probably only has 3-4 more years before he starts to loose a step and can't be a run first QB anymore. If he doesn't develop accuracy and vision he won't last much longer than that.

So I went thru some of the tape and here is what I found. There were 5 dropped passes, one for a td. For all you stat hounds that would be 17-31 and 1 td.

Also we were taken out of our game, by the way the Saints got on the board and then really just controlled the ball. Their first drive of the second half took 8 minutes or so off the clock.

There were 3 or 4 drives that were ended with a sack, a couple more that ended with drops.

The second drive of the game was his best, where he had a couple big completions and the one where Alge dropped the td pass.

There was also another drive where he picked up a 4th and 1 on a pass play. On that same drive we got to the 2 yardline where Vick was pressured as soon as he faked the handoff and took a sack. This was when the blocked fg happened.

Overall it was just not a good game for the Falcons. If Alge catches the td pass, and some other balls are caught, along, with converting while inside the 2 yd. line instead of a blocked fg, and take away a blocked punt and this game might be different.

Enough with the shoulda, coulda, woulda. I realize that Vick didnt have his best performance, but the Saints took us out of our game, and we struggled.

Yeah only two teams that were picked by alot of people to reach the playoffs, and even superbowl and we all know it isnt b/c of their offenses.

Speaking of this game, take a look at Jenkins td catch where Vick eluded the rush then threw a strike to Jenks, where he then made a move and was able to score.

Quote:
What exactly does he bring to the game, except maybe a few Sportscenter plays once in awhile?
Is this a joke?? Ask any D-cord. in the NFL this ? and they will laugh at you.

I areally hope you are not serious with this. He has 200+ yds rushing. That is more than the next 4 qb's combined and probably even more, but I couldnt find anymore qbs in the top 30 in their respective leagues. He is also able to keep a play alive longer than other qbs and forces defenses to hold back and not attack, allowing the running game to be more effective.

Quote:
Vick does not have the intangibles or courage to lead his team from behind.
Wow, plz let me in on how you obtained this info, I would like to know.

Quote:
You say he was "up against the world" last night. He was actually just up against the Saints, who he made look like a superbowl team. At the pro level you don't complain that everyone was rooting against you, you are supposed to be a professional and win at all costs. It looks like a joke when you try to say that Vick had all the odds against him, considering what actual great players have gone through to win games when they had to.
Go check out ESPN I bet they are talking about the Saints huge victory for the city, Look at all the people that payed money to go to the game and they don't even have a home, Even the Falcons players went around and were helping out the city. Look at post game conferences, some have said maybe it wasnt such a bad game to lose. I understand that you have to overcome things, but when you go into a game playing it as just a game and one side is fired up beyond believe it can be hard at times. Then you have a couple breaks go their way and you are really in for it.

BTW another theory for some to test, I had a high school steams coach that said 95% of teams that block a punt in a game will win that game. To this day I believe this to be true. It just take the wind out of your sails and is a total game changer in football.

Quote:
And please, please stop blaming everyone else on the team besides Vick. They have been molding that team for 6 years to fit around him, and the players around him are perfectly capable. It's obviously their fault that a pass gets away from them, when the last 5 were thrown 10 feet over their heads or to someone in the stands. Yeah, the Saints blocked a punt for a TD. Vick is lucky that his fumble the play before wasn't taken back for 6, and instead hit out of bounds.
First I blame the team, but I dont' come out and say that Vick is the sole reason. If you watched the game, you realize that the receivers were not getting open, the balls were being dropped and Vick was under a lot of duress throughout the game. Vick also had passes that he threw that were not very good, but who is to say that some of them were thrown into the dirt b/c guys were covered or overthrown, b/c guys were covered. I don't know and you don't know. He didnt have any INT's or lose any fumbles. He wasnt the one that got the punt blocked or the fg blocked.

BTW it also might help if someone would point out what we are actually trying to prove here.

I think the point of the thread is to point out that Vick is not horrible.

To me this is obvious, I mean he is the best athlete(or one of them) on the field at all times and he has the ball in his hands on everyplay. How can you not like that. He is a threat to run the ball for 20 yards or pass it if you try and stop him from runnnig. I know he is not that accurate of a passer, but I can also see when a WR is not getting open or a lineman is not blocking. You need all 3 to really be able to put up big numbers.

funny you say that. T.O. and Randy Moss both wanted to go to Atl. they both said they preferred Atl. over any other team. Blank actually met with Moss before they decided they didn't want the baggage that came with Moss and didn't try to trade for him. Hines Ward also expressed interest before resigning with the Steelers. There goes that argument.

Vick is a hell of an athlete, I just don't think that he is a good quarterback. I admit, I don't like him, and he is not horrible but I personally don't think he is God as some people make him out to be. I'm sure the rest of his team struggled, but you would be crazy to say that he didn't have a pretty bad game as well. I still think that he would be great as a slot receiver, kick returner, and RB to make the most of his athleticism on every play. I just don't think he has the qualities of a true quarterback that most other elite QBs have.

As for "The Man" who came up with the argument about how Vince Young is a "taller, slower, just as accurate version of Vick", I have this for you, what did Vince Young do last season that Vick couldn't do when he was in college? He led his team to a National Championship, and carried the team on his back when they needed a play. Vick may be faster, but Young is the guy that leads his team to victory in every kind of situation.
