Is Brett Favre gone for good?
CHRIS JENKINS
Associated Press
CHICAGO - After shredding the Chicago Bears in an otherwise meaningless 26-7 victory for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, Brett Favre certainly sounded like a man who was ready to leave the game.
Standing on the 20-yard line at Soldier Field after taking a photo with his offensive linemen, Favre got choked up during a TV interview, saying he would decide "soon" whether he would retire or return next season.

A LASTING IMPRESSION

Packers want Favre back
It almost makes you wonder what all the big deal is about. Brett Favre retire? Why? Many can ask the question but only Favre can answer it, and a for a few moments it seemed as if he had. More ?

As tears welled up in Brett Favre's eyes, bartenders rushed to cut the music and the packed bar went silent.

Bretts having a blast out there and he even says he is. He needs to come back for one more season and play with a contender of a team next year.

Column: Packers Await Favre's Final Word

CHICAGO (AP) -- It's going to be a long two weeks in the City of Broad Shoulders and weak arms. The anxiety level in Green Bay, meanwhile, could be elevated for that long or longer waiting to find out if one of the strongest arms the NFL has ever seen will be back next season.

Brett put off his ankle surgery scheduled for the monday after the bears game. The surgery was in his ankle to clean out bone spurs. Does the cancellation of surgery give good signs for him to come back? I think so.

He seemed awfully emotional in the interview following the Bears game for somebody that thought he was coming back.

Associated Press
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Brett Favre will return for his 17th NFL season, undeterred by his injuries and hoping to lead the Green Bay Packers back to the playoffs.

"I am so excited about coming back," the 37-year-old quarterback said Friday on the Web site of the Sun Herald in Biloxi, Miss. "We have a good nucleus of young players. We were 8-8 last year, and that's encouraging.
"My offensive line looks good, the defense played good down the stretch. I'm excited about playing for a talented young football team."
