They need a bunch of players for both sides of the ball...
|
They had most of those players before they were lost to injuries for the season. The two weakness not counting injuries were, I think, in the Defensive Backfield and possibly the O-Line. The vast majority of the interceptions were when he was forcing things because they had no other options, for instance, throwing a Javon Walker ball to a 5th string reciever. Walker might have had a 60-40 shot at catching it, probably a 75-25 at preventing an interception, what kind of chance does the backup have?

I think Favre could lead his teams to more wins with more talent around him... however I do not think they would compete for the NFC crown anytime soon.
Did Favre always go nuts on his lineman when they didn't block? I realize it's probably a lot worse than usual this year, but I didn't remember seeing happen as often as it does now.

If Favre's only options are to retire or play for the Packers he should retire. Now if he could go to Atlanta for a season and move Vick to Slash he might have a chance. Detriot wouldn't be a bad place to go as long as they could get a few OL to protect him.

he'd get rogers injured seeing as he is the most frail big WR in the league.

But Rogers is basically a Browns #1 draft pick who didn't get drafted by the Browns.

The big key to the offensive is RB. Green was a threat running and receiving. Green Bay uses the screen pass more than any team in the NFL... once Green went down they lost that threat. Henderson can run the screen but he's not as fast and can't break it for more that 10 yards. Davenport runs well but he got hurt. That left Fisher and Gado. Gado came on... then he got hurt. Fisher is decent on the screen but he can't run between the tackles. Combine no running game, 5th string receivers and Favres style... yeah he's gonna have a ton of interceptions.
Who would you rather have at QB in the NFC North.... Culpepper, Brad Johnson, Harrington, Garcia, Grossman, Orton or Favre. I'd still go with Favre 10 times out of 10.
