This will sound weird, but Favre at this stage is a guy who can play on a good team, but not a bad, or even average, one. He needs a ground game and a defense that can bail him out after he thorws 2-4 pciks a game now, and Green Bay currently has neither. The running game may come back sooner than later, but the D is a long way away. If he were playing for the Bears, however...
If he can't go to a contender like Bledsoe did to Dallas, he should retire.

I agree with Bucklion for the most part. However, I just don't think Green Bay is that far away talent wise to compete. They were competitive with good teams most of the year until injuries took almost everything away, for that matter they've played two good games with the Bears in the last month! Favre is going to throw more int. than many QBs because of what he tries to do. As to which QB I would prefer, if Green Bay had Kyle Orton or Grossman on the bench, I'd like to see them play some, but they don't!!! I have no interest in seeing the Rodgers kid playing any time soon. Therefore, IMHO the Packers best shot lies with Favre for the forseeable future. I don't think they'll ever trade him, nor do I think he wants to play anywhere else. Now should Young or Leinhart sp. fall to them in the draft, things may change a little next year...

I agree coastal. I don't think Favre will ever play for anyone else. He's old school and I think he wants to go out a Packer. My friend is a huge Pack fan, and he says Favre still shows up in like a 1986 Ford pickup truck.
I'm a Favre fan, and I'd love to see the guy have one last hurrah, but at the same time, it's horrible to watch such a good guy who's had amazing success struggle so much.

In my opinion, Favre's ability hasn't eroded. He had absolutely no chance with the back-ups in Green Bay. I hope he comes back next year.

I though he might be a canidate right away. That stint in Det. worries me though, most people I've read say it wasn't his fault, really.
