Leon Hall had a good year. But that's the problem with Bengal draft picks. They all look promising in year 1 (Hall, JJ, Thurman, Bustin Smith, Madeau Williams) and instead of getting coached up, they get "bengaled" by incompetent position coaches and end up being mediocre or average NFL players by year 3.

Are you a pessemist because you're a bengals fan, or are you a bengals fan because you're a pessemist?

Justin Smith just isn't going to be great pro bowl caliber DE, solid number 2 DE but not deserving of the coin he's getting. Thurman was good when he actually played. Leon Hall is terrible.

Very quickly things dissolve...

I know this is getting away from Chad, but you have to admit the defense was plagued by injury. Give me Pollack, Jeanty, and Brooks.. throw in Thurman, and you've got some playmaking linebackers. Maybe unproven, but lots of potentail. Let Erik Henderson come off the edge. When you are consistently playing Corey Mays, Dahani Jones, Anthony Schlagel, and the other people I can't even keep up with, what do you expect? They can't make other teams, but start for the Bengals due to injury. The front 4 aren't really even average, so you have no pass rush, and no ability to blitz. It would take a defensive backfield full of Champ Bailey's to defend the pass. You start dropping 7 to help, and then find yourself giving up 5 yds. per carry. Next year I'm excited about the potential of having healthy linebacker corps and maybe big Vern coming off the edge. Get the defense off the field, Chad back on it, and maybe we can keep him happy. WHO DEY!
