Then quit trying to defend the whole [censored]ing NBA.
|
I've never tried to defend the "whole [censored]ing NBA." I've tried to defend the league and some of its players from baseless excuses. Every league has their bad seeds. It's just amazing to me that football players, hockey players and baseball players seem to be immune from character attacks as a whole when some of their players act like idiots.
There are plenty of guys in the NFL (and yes, that includes Chad Johnson) who would have a different public image if they played in the NBA. Unfortunately, though such an image would be well-deserved in my opinion, it would also unjustifiably reflect on the league as a whole.

Chad came off looking like an idiot.
I have to say, I really like Keyshawn's work thus far.

I'm kind of surprised about the differences of what is tolerated by professional athletes in the various sports.
If Chad Johnson played baseball and did his celebration when rounding the bases after a home run; the next time he came to bat the pitcher would make sure that he would be wearing the baseball in his ear hole.

I call bull[censored] on the whole "Chad Johnson is a distraction preventing his team from winning" stuff.
So what, is Chad Johnson's act distracting his own team's defense, preventing them from covering or tackling?
The Bengals offense is still one of the top offenses in the league, thanks in large part to Johnson's direct contributions as well as the opportunities that his presence creates for other players. The Bengals suck because their defense sucks - and that is certainly not Chad Johnson's fault. The defense lacks competent players and probably leadership. You could blame the players for that, but they are what they are. It's not necessarily their fault that they suck. Blame Marvin Lewis for assembling that mess.
Keyshawn did have Chad Johnson backpedaling in the interview. I attribute that to Keyshawn drawing upon his own experience as a loudmouth and a cancer to know which buttons to push more than I attribute it to him actually being right about Chad Johnson.

It's easy to discuss CJ as a distraction angle. Even idiots like Chris Berman who use lines from 15 years ago can discuss him.
But if you have a discussion regarding the D, you need to be informed about Odell, Pollack, Brooks, Oneal, JJ, etc etc. That requires intelligence. Which the idiots on TV (including Berman, Tom "Hypocrite" Jackson, etc etc) have no clue about.

You mean someone else on ESPN that doesn't know what they're talking about?

I think that Chad had Keshawn backpeddling on a few things also. Chad and Keyshawn are actually cousins, and when Chad made the comment about he learned stuff from Keyshawn, you could tell he didn't know how to defend it. Notice shortly after Chad started calling Keyshawn and all the "suits" out for not knowing what was really going on the interview was stopped and Keyshawn left?
Both brought up some good points, and I think chad is right in many ways, that if he was a true cancer in the locker room he would not be there. Both Spikes and Dillion are players that the bengals let go because they felt they were better off without them then with them in the locker room causing more problems.
