Lewis says it again: Chad Johnson isn't going anywhere
ESPN.com news services
Updated: February 14, 2008, 10:21 AM ET
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is standing firm: Chad Johnson is staying in Cincinnati.
Johnson
Lewis said Wednesday that the team will not trade the disgruntled wide receiver and has never discussed it, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer and the team's Web site.
"They can stop the presses, quit killing trees and move on to other things," Lewis said, defending Johnson despite the wide receiver's critical comments about the team. "There is, at no point, anyone in the Bengals organization who has ever uttered anything about trading Chad Johnson. Nor will he be traded."

Dispatch
Quote:
The Washington Post reported this week that the Redskins are interested in trading for Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson, and team officials even discussed it during interviews with coaching candidates. The newspaper cited multiple league sources in reporting the story and indicated that Johnson's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is trying to broker the trade.
Team officials aren't going to admit to that, even if it's true. If Johnson were a topic in interview sessions, it would appear to be a violation of the league's tampering policy.
Either way, it is a clear sign that the Johnson story isn't going away, despite coach Marvin Lewis' insistence that the Bengals will not trade him.

'Unfairness' of Johnson's own making
WR, Lewis must end nonsense
BY PAUL DAUGHERTY | PDAUGHERTY@ENQUIRER.COM
At some point, hopefully sooner than later, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis and receiver Chad Johnson will stand together at a podium, put on a happy face and join in a chorus of Kumbaya.
Recent melodramatics aside, it's the only reasonable thing to do. It might not solve whatever it is that's bugging Johnson, but it would relieve the media of dealing with this nonsense, so it could move on to other, newer nonsense.
The Bengals have made it clear they won't trade Johnson. That won't change, unless Carson Palmer visits Mike Brown and says he no longer can work with Ocho Cinco, which isn't likely to happen.

This thread needs updated.
Chad Johnson joined the rest of the Bengals today and fully participated in practice.
In my short stay at training camp, Chad was just acting like old Chad. He actually signed quite a few autographs, which in years past hasn't been so common.

Ron Zook has a special ability to treat people from all walks of life equally and with respect. He is especially beloved by minorities who can recognize disingenuous phoneys a mile away. Since a large number of the best football players are minorities, Coach Zook has an advantage in recruiting.

Mike & Mike in the Morning just played an excerpt from PTI yesterday.
Chad Johnson said that there are several people from his old neighborhood (Liberty City in Dade County, FLA) that would beat MICHAEL PHELPS in swimming "...and I'm one of 'em".
That's right: Ocho Cinco says he'd beat Michael Phelps in swimming.
Someone please get this idiot into a pool with Michael Phelps...
As common as hyperbole is on internet message boards, I say the following without a hint of it: Chad's comment is the 2nd Stupidest Sports Related Comment I've ever heard. And that's only because I once knew a pudgy nothing of a non-athlete who said in all seriousness that he was a better basketball player than Michael Jordan.
