actually texas doesn't lose all that much next year.
On the OL they lose 3 starters maybe four if blaylock goes pro(that would be a huge loss), but they return several backups that rotate the entire game with them. This should not be a huge drop in talent. The most notable difference will be how they play together as our line this year has been together for the better part of 3 years.
We lose Huff and Ced Griffen in the secondary but once again will be able to replace them with players that have seen significant playing time in nickle and dime packages this year and have played well.
We lose Aaron Harris in the Middle. That is a huge lose but we will be able to move Rashad Bobino to MLB wich is his natural spot and we have a very deep LB corp that is soon to add the #1 LB recruit in the Nation in Sergio Kendle
on the line we lose Rod Wright but get to replace him with Frank Okam who at least in my opinion has been better for us this year. We also lose Larry Dibbols who we would replace with Roy miller. The truth is though you will not find many hornfans who worry about our play on the Dline. Texas has become a factory for Dlineman.
All of our recievers will be comming back and god forbid if Jordan Shipley ever gets healthy.
Jamaal Charles will have another year in him.
In fact Texas(with vy at the helm) will have the oportunity to be every bit as good next year.
My largest concern at this point is Gene Chizik taking a HC job. He would be nearly impossible to replace.

question, is he like a matt jones????will he be a qb in NFL?
|
No, he will get his shot at QB. I guess that there is a chance that he ends up the way of Kordel Stewart, but he will get his chance

That sounds good on paper, I'll admit. But there are way too many questions that could turn things. What if VY does go pro? How long will it take the new OL, secondary, and LBs to come along? What if something happens that you totally don't expect (like MoC with us on '03)?
My point is that projecting a year in advance, no matter how rational it seems now, is a very inexact science. Remember how the media was saying that we were going to have an even better team in '03 than we had in '02 when we won the NC. We ended up with a good year in '03 (11-2), but not the NC that everyone was predicting in Spring/Summer '03.

It's being reported on several websites that Mack Brown is lookin towards the NFL. That could impact VY's decision.

MACK LOOKING FOR SOME NFL JACK?
Our NFL sources tell us that Texas coach Mack Brown has developed a keen interest in the Saints head coaching gig if, as expected, the team plays its 2006 games in San Antone.
Former Vikings owner Red McCombs is a major Brown supporter and McCombs also is tight with Saints owner Tom Benson. McCombs, who might have been interested in hiring Brown to coach the Vikings (if, you know, Red wasn't such a cheap ass) is rumored to be nudging the two together.
Even without Red's crooked fingers trying to stir the stew, Brown would be an obvious choice for the Saints and Benson, given that the team will be trying to put butts in the seats in the same state where Brown is tearing up D-I.
And this could, in theory, spark a bidding war between Benson and Texans owner Bob McNair, who currently is scouting out replacements for current coach Dom "No One Will Think That This Dead Muskrat On My Head Isn't Actually My Own Growing Hair" Capers.
Things could get very interesting, of course, if this thing shakes out with Brown working for Benson and Haslett just up the road coaching the Texans, who are scheduled to host the Saints in 2007.
