Browns fans- Who do you want to draft?

I havent found a thread on this, and figured I should start one. The Browns have a TON of glaring needs. A big defensive tackle, inside and outside linebacker, cornerback, and left tackle are the biggest concerns. All the great teams have an identity on defense, someone that just makes plays, like an Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu.

DT
Haloti Ngata is the only player here worthy of a high pick, hes hands down the best inside force in this draft. Rod Wright quite possibly could be taken here, but he doesnt have ideal size for a 3-4 defense.

LB
Gee, guess who im going to mention first. The chances of Hawk getting past both Green Bay and Oakland are very slim. Demeco Ryans, and Chad Greenway are both possible picks here, although I personally dont think they are worth it.

CB
Jimmy Williams is a playmaker, hes 6'3", 216 pounds, and has been timed in the 4.3's. If he is still here, it will be hard for the staff to pass on him.

LT
Lots of quality LT's in this draft. Winston Justice, Jonathon Scott, and Marcus O'Neil are all probably worthy of this pick, but the Browns need instant help, and lineman rarely ever come in and dominate.

EDIT: Another name I would LOVE to land, would be DE Manny Lawson, from NC State, kids a physcial freak. Would convert to an OLB.

I dont want an overrated Chad Greenway, thats for damn sure......i keep hearing his name at the 12th pick, if we're going LB at the 12th pick it can be Demeco Ryans, Ernie Sims, or how about a lil' Bobby Carpenter....all 3 will have better careers than Greenway in my opinion

I will be VERY disappointed if we draft Greenway.

Of those selections, I want Haloti Ngata. The Browns front seven on defense was horrible. We couldn't stop the run and we couldn't generate a pass rush. I think that stopping the run comes first, so if I were to draft defense first, I'd try to get Ngata.

But who's to say the Browns draft defense first? There's this guy named LenDale White who should still be on the board by the time the Browns pick. I know what some of you are thinking. You're thinking, "But Reuben ran for over 1000 yards! That's the first time in twenty years yadda yadda yadda!"

True. But without the numbers in front of me, I'd have to say he ran for a total of 60 yards in the month of December. He ran out of gas, and our running game was nonexistent down the stretch. Droughns is nice, but he isn't the answer. If Ngata is off the board, I think we should draft White. Besides, this draft is linebacker deep. We can pick up someone nice (Why, hello there, Bobby Carpenter!) in the second round.

I would love to get Ngata im not sure if he will be at the 12 spot. I think we can get a good LB in the second round which we need maybe ryans if he falls and carpenter. for the first round i wouldnt mind getting dangelo williams in the 12th spot. Even though we have Droughns i think this kid could be a superstar. It seems like suggs is a glass house and green is just not that good. In the third round i like an Offensive tackle maybe that kid from Boise state.

We need a linebacker in either round 1 or 2, Ben Taylor couldnt play for my high school team, neither could our safety Brian Russel...

Agree with you on the Ngata part... but entirely disagree on Lendale White. If running back even in your top 3 of position needs, theres no way you take one unless he is head and shoulders above every other player remaining, or he must have some serious star potential. That being said, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we took Williams with the pick. He has some serious star potential. I've watched him play a few times this year and he has great speed, agility, and power. He's a great all around back who was definitly the most underrated player in the nation this year.

this draft is so deep im loving it, i completely agree we can pick up a nice LB in the second rd and I wouldnt mind going offense first for a best player available strategy...the second rd could have players like carpenter although i think he goes late first, antonio cromartie may be there and that kid WILL be a stud, i don't think gabe watson would be a bad pick even though i hate drafting michigan players, broderick bunckley may be available, aj nicholson will be there, we need safeties and i think whitner, blue, and bing will be there.....there are so many options and ill be happy if we go just about any other direction than chad greenway, no offense to him b/c im sure hes a great kid

Bunckley is a serious player, hes really under the radar. Watson might actually be a good pick. This defense needs a playmaker, all the best defenses in the NFL have one. There are certainly a ton of candidates...

I think Carpenter gets drafted in the first to the Patriots, he will have a great combine and I doubt that he lasts until the second round.
