Nagy's 4 TDs leads Destroyers' upset over top-seeded Dallas
DALLAS -- Matt Nagy threw four touchdown passes and ran for two scores to lead the Columbus Destroyers to a surprise 66-59 victory over the Dallas Desperados on Saturday night, advancing to the National Conference championship game for the first time.
Nagy completed 20 of 32 passes for 285 yards for Columbus (7-9 in the regular season), and Damien Groce had eight receptions for 170 yards and one touchdown.
Trailing 35-21 with 4:25 left in the second quarter, the Destroyers scored 31 of the next 34 points. Groce's 4-yard scoring run with 14:02 to go in the third gave Columbus the lead for good, 42-38, and Jason Shelley's 28-yard scoring reception pushed the advantage to 14 with 12:55 remaining in the game.

The Destroyers will play the winner of Sunday night's game between Philadelphia and Georgia next Saturday for the right to compete in ArenaBowl XXI on July 29.

For The Columbus Dispatch

DALLAS -- One week after winning the franchise's first playoff game, the Destroyers pulled off their biggest upset.

With a 66-59 shocker over the Dallas Desperados, the Destroyers advanced to the National Conference championship against the winner of today's Georgia-Philadelphia game. As the eighth seed, the Destroyers will be the road team.
Trailing 38-28 entering the second half, the Destroyers pulled off two bizarre plays -- even by arena football standards -- that turned the game around in less than a minute. On the opening kickoff, Josh Bush recovered the ball after it bounced off a beam and rolled in from the 1-yard line for a touchdown, making it 38-35.
