I gotta say I love this rule change. It was always frustrating to watch columbus make a good defensive play only to have it waved off because a lb went out of his "box".

Destroyers retool in search of energy

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Even when the Destroyers were making their run to the ArenaBowl, coach Doug Kay knew change would be needed.
The stunning playoff victories were sweet, but you don't coach for five decades without understanding that a few good games don't erase the deficiencies that had long been obvious during a 7-9 regular season.
So Kay resisted any temptation he might have had to bring back most of his National Conference championship team for the 2008 Arena Football League season.

Destroyers hoping to rebound in Dallas
Friday, March 7, 2008 3:02 AM
By Bill Rabinowitz
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
So what will it be, Little Big Horn II or the Great Escape II? Today, the Destroyers play at the Dallas Desperados in week two of the Arena Football League season. A year ago, their games at Dallas marked the two extremes of the Destroyers' crazy season.
Last April, the Destroyers blew a 37-7 lead and fell 53-51 to the Desperados. Afterward, Columbus coach Doug Kay said watching tape of that game made him feel the way Custer would have if Little Big Horn had been filmed.
But Columbus got its revenge in the playoffs, stunning Dallas 66-59 in the second round. Considering that the Destroyers had limped into the playoffs with a 7-9 record while Dallas was 15-1, the upset was considered the biggest in AFL playoff history.
