Other first-year eligibles are running back Eric Metcalf; offensive tackles Tony Boselli, Lomas Brown and Richmond Webb; and linebackers Levon Kirkland and Hardy Nickerson. Voters will choose 25 candidates from that group as semifinalists; that list will be announced late in November. Pro Football HOF announces 124 nominees for 2008 Wednesday, October 31, 2007 REPOSITORY STAFF REPORT CANTON Wide receiver Cris Carter and cornerback Darrell Green are first-year eligible candidates among a list of 124 modern-era players, coaches and contributors on preliminary list of nominees for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame?s Class of 2008. Hall of Fame selectors will choose 25 semifinalists, which then will be reduced by a mail ballot to 15 modern-era finalists to be joined by the two senior nominees, Marshall Goldberg and Emmitt Thomas. The Class of 2008 will be selected Feb. 2, the day before Super Bowl XLII. And Larry Allen was the best guard of his generation probably...if any OL gets in first ballot, it will likely be him.
